A longshot, but it could get interesting if Wade and the Heat dont agree. If anyone has the personality to pull a Deandre Jordan and change his mind, it's Whiteside. He can say he's pulling out because he thought Wade was being retained.

IT
Butler
Crowder
Horford
Cousins
Bradley/Smart
KO
Jaylen
Jerebko
Probably lose one of Jae or Bradley in a Butler trade and probably one of Jaylen/Smart in a Cousins trade, but I think that team with Stevens at the helm has a good shot at going 7 games with the right strategy and a league leading defense.
I'd give that team a 20% chance against GSW but there's no way you are retaining those bench pieces while trading for Butler AND Cousins. That's why we need to sign a major FA like Westbrook or Griffin. Trade for Cousins and sign Westbrook and you could still have a decent amount left of the bench.

We dont want this to happen. We want Wade to get paid. Miami without wade or whiteside is probably the worst team in the league next year.

Agreed. I want Heat to get stuck with Dragic, Wade, Whiteside, and Bosh (who might not play again) and not much else. They've lost pieces from last season and will only get worse from here unless Winslow turns into an absolute stud.

Mostly jokingly said in the GB that IT would be MVP next year. Then looked up MVP Rose's stats for **** and giggle, shockingly close:
PER 36
2016 IT:
24.8 PPG (.43/.36/.87) .56TS%

I think the biggest part you missed there is 62 wins and top seed in the East. IT does those numbers and gets 62 wins and it's a different conversation.

Of course, IT's supporting cast was not as good as Rose's however, but it's sort of shaping up to be very similar this year:
Crowder = Deng
Horford = Noah/Boozer
I just found it interesting that my Isaiah MVP next year in the general board wasn't quite as far fetched as I originally thought haha

Rose was such a joke of an MVP. Basically just punishment for LBJ super-teaming.

Agreed, but now we got even more super teaming, though I'm guessing it'll be Westbrook's for the taking this year if he can get OKC enough wins.

Still getting caught up on the news.. Really thought we had a shot at Durant. Hard to dislike the guy, but it would be nice to see a superstar with some competitiveness and self-respect. Joining the team you'd just lost to is humble, I guess, but also kind of repulsive.
Don't know if we'll spend the current cap, and we can obviously absorb players by trade. Greg Monroe is one option, but Gordon Hayward would make some sense, with the versatility to replace Turner. And since we're a year away anyway, taking a season to develop Okafor seems like the smartest bet.

Re: The Official Off-Season Thread, part I of many
I'm done with this offseason in a good way. I think Danny's done enough and I don't want go give away any assets when we can land a good free agent next year for free. I think adding a good young player like Hayward along with adding a stud with the Brokklyn pick puts us in position to win.
Could change my mind if Westbrook will extend his contract atleast a year, but otherwise I don't want any fireworks. This should be a fun, blue collar 53-55 win team next year. I think Cleveland's very beatable (although I know everyone riding the emotion of the finals will disagree) and we could get to the finals.

I'm with you. Boogie is about the only guy out there that could become available that I'd ship major assets our for at this point (I'd do Butler if Chi came down some off their demands).
I'm all about the route you laid out. Continue to grow, get better, add a top 5 guy from draft next year and a max player from FA next year and we're really set up for the future. Should be able to compete at that point and god forbid if one of Danny's picks is able to become a franchise player type guy then we could be a juggernaut a in a little while. I know it's a longer road than Danny/ Wyc wanted but hey, you gotta play the cards you're dealt and I think they're playing them as best they can.

I would like to take a brief moment to thank Danny for not signing Barnes AND trading for Love as earlier rumored. Offseason would've been a disaster if that combo move happened.

If Wade signs in Chicago, Butler's not going anywhere.

Re: The Official Off-Season Thread, part I of many
Now that the big fish are off the market.... If no one picks up James Johnson, maybe we could offer him a 1 year deal?
Pros:
-Our wing/forward depth was seriously tested last year. Gives us a veteran PF backup who can guard SF.
-Really active player so he'd fit our system and find buckets on offense.
-Versatile defender, tough guy. Fits the team's identity.
-Good hedge if Jaylen Brown isn't ready for heavy minutes.
-Would give us something tradeable if he's playing well, rather than have unused cap space.
Cons:
-Since he's playing for UFA next season, it could be hard to take away his playing time.
-We have plenty of tough guy types (and bad shooters) as is.

Stash Zizic and Yabu overseas. Stash Bentil and Nader in Maine. I wish we addressed the rebounding hole Sully would leave behind, but I'm set with our offseason, barring any major trade. Man, I hope these guys learned how to shoot better during the summer 'cos we didn't do great in that area either (apart from replacing Sully with Horford).

Crowder/Brown/Young

Horford/KO/Mickey
I wouldn't mind picking up Quincy Acy for a one-year deal (dunno how much left $ room we have) or just leave the last roster spot open for future use. Let's go already. October can't come soon enough.

Stash Marcus Thornton as far away as possible.
