Bonnell Exclusive: Hornets retain BRob for vet min

Rick Bonnell ‏@rick_bonnell 3m3 minutes ago
The @hornets are bringing back Brian Roberts to be third point guard. Veteran minimum contract.

Rick Bonnell ‏@rick_bonnell 5m5 minutes ago
Good move bringing back Roberts. Steve Clifford prioritizes having a 3rd point who knows the system.

Wow, that'll work. Sorry Jorge.

Kemba | Sessions | Roberts
Batum | Belinelli | Daniels
MKG | Lamb | Harrison
Marv | Frank
Cody | Roy | Hawes

14 roster spots occupied, assuming we keep Daniels and Harrison (and Hawes and Belinelli).

Roberts is fine as a third PG, great at the line too. Leaves the Room for another 4 (I still want McBob).

I mean, he's better than Jorge. Just gotta hope Sessions and Kemba stay healthy.

No way we keep 8 guards. Kemba, Batum, Sessions, Belinelli, Lamb, Roberts, Harrison, Daniels.

Forwards: MKG, Marvin, Kaminksy
Centers: Zeller, Hibbert, Hawes

Need to get rid of one of Lamb or Belinelli and bring in a SF/PF tweener like Brandon Bass

Its a good move. Our culture, chemistry and locker room are very important to the team. We are bringing back guys who are well liked and fit in our culture.

According to a summer league interview with Harrison, he is being groomed to play small forward.

OK, this made me laugh. Retread city. As a 3rd guard he's fine.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

You know Bonnell enjoyed flexing on Woj by dropping this bombshell.

He's a good guy and seems to get along with everyone. Good teammate. I'm perfectly ok with that as a third PG. hopefully he never has to be more.

I thought one of our main takeaway's from last season is that we lacked size and physicality? How does almost half our team being 6'5 or under address that?

Having a 3rd PG is necessary in case of injury in a 82 game season if the Hornets are serious about making a push for the playoffs. It certainly doesn't hurt that he knows the system.

Harrison will probably spend most of the year in the D-League, maybe Daniels too assuming we keep him.
