Fun fact: Had we not traded for Belinelli we potentially could have afforded Festus Ezili or Boban Marjanovic. Now, we are stuck with Roy Hibbert and three backup SGs that all basically do the same thing.

Re: Official: #22 Traded For Marco Belinelli (straight up)
this issues i have with this trade.
-Marco isn't any good, and even if he does play well he still doesn't do anything that we dont already have. just another wing that shoots threes and doesn't play defense.
-the rookie player might not be any good, in fact he will probably he terrible. but the potential of hitting on a late 1st >>>>>> whatever marco gives us. the warriors aren't the warriors if they didn't hit on draymond in the 2nd round.
-we basically self sabotaged Nics and Marvins discounts by trading a 1million dollar rookie (that we control for several years) for a 6.3 million dollar old bench player.
-this isn't a "win now" move, win now moves actually help you win now. marco is likely a net negative.

I see a lot of posts about Belinelli's downward 3 pt shooting, and while that is a concern, I think everyone focusing on 3 pt shooting may be overlooking why Cho & Co coveted Belinelli. So many guys in the NBA are massively talented but don't get the green light to showcase their creativity - that's usually reserved for the Stars - but that green light is what unleashed Batum here last year, and I'm pretty sure Belly's underutilized ability to make other people around him better is what has management so interested. He can be very creative and certainly unselfish with the ball. His playing style looks an awful lot like Batum's in the above video.

I my opinion, Sessions, Hibbert, and Belli are nice role players. The difference is we gave a 1st round draft pick for Belli, while we got Sessions and Hibbert for free. I'm not gonna keep bitching about Belli if we got him for free.

or that if we'd gotten a 2nd rd pick in the deal it would have been a proper trade
he is here to stay though, so i've started looking for silver linings
something made a previously savvy GM covet him, and I don't think it's as simple as 3 pt shooting

Re: Official: #22 Traded For Marco Belinelli (straight up)
Do you people not understand the impact of playing on a team like the Sacramento Kings does to a player when you are sharing the court with guys like Rajon Rondo, Demarcus Cousins, Koufas, Cauley-Stein?
Belinelli is undervalued and underpaid in today's market and Cho looked at this as the perfect opportunity to upgrade the team and send them into the top 4 of the East. Marco Belinelli is night and day difference between J Lin. He is an athletic guard with moves that baffles opponents.

Teaming him up with smart players like Batum, Marvin, and Kemba is going to show the diamond in the rough Cho just picked up.
Why take a chance on a rookie that may contribute 1% to team success when you have this underrated Vet who could contribute so much more! Not only does it continue to put Charlotte on the map, it also makes this a destination for players to come to and prosper.

The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

So it's not really a matter of "being confident" the injury won't be an issue, really we're just hoping it won't be because we're stuck with him even if he failed the physical.
I guess they insisted on this due to the possibility of an injury amidst international play, like a broken jaw or something.

It was stupid but then again the trade was dumb I the first place. We got a less athletic and older version of Jeremy Lamb. Woo Hoo. We just got a D-league team and now decide it is not worth our time to develop players. I would have rather kept the pick and not picked anyone that to take on garbage salary like this.

Other than Marco and Lamb being practically nothing alike they're basically the same player.

Re: Official: #22 Traded For Marco Belinelli (straight up)
Other than assists, turnovers, eFG% and points they are completely different. Problem is the only thing Marco does slightly better is shoot threes and he sucked at that last year. But you are right they are completely different because Lamb is a better athlete, rebounder, and gets more steals and blocks. So you are right they are completely different and Lamb is better. Lamb is a weak defender and still Marco is worse.

Re: Official: #22 Traded For Marco Belinelli (straight up)
Marco's body of work speaks for itself when compared to Lamb. Marco has been a major contributor to championship caliber teams. Lamb has yet to earn a consistent rotation spot on any team.
Lamb thrives in ISO situations where he can dominate the ball, and last season was the worst C&S shooter on our team. Belinelli is an excellent C&S perimeter shooter and is much better at facilitating ball movement.
Their games are not the same. I get that you are down on him because he had a bad year last year. Maybe you're right and he forgot how to shoot all of the sudden. I do think it's a safe bet that it had more to do with the environment in SAC and less to do with Belinelli losing skills he previously had.

Why was Marco the only player whose shooting was held back by the Sacramento situation? Seems like the team shot pretty great from deep. Marco shot significantly worse from 3 than any Kings players except James Anderson and Caron Butler(who only played 17 games). Seth Curry shot 45% on 2.5 attempts per game. Casspi shot 41% on 4 apg. Collison shot 40% on 2.9 apg. Quincy Acy shot 39% on .8apg. RAJON RONDO shot almost 37% on 2.4 apg. Mclemore shot 36% on 2.7 apg. Gay shot 34% on 3.1 apg. Even Demarcus Cousins shot 33% on 3.1 apg. It seems unlikely that the offense and overall situation in Sacramento was so bad for 3 point shooting and efficiency in general that it caused Marco to shoot 30% from 3 on 4.4 attempts per game with a sub 40% fg%, while everyone else somehow shot seemingly really well.

Marco's more aware of team dysfunction; with his higher BBIQ he's sensitive to the fact that when a team is tension-filled and losing that you must shoot poorly from the arc.
Nobody but smart Marco understood, he not only understood but was attuned to making it happen.

Their offensive games are nearly on opposite ends of spectrum. Marco's role is coming off screens for C&S or facilitating from the perimeter. In that way he's a mix of Korver and Batum but closer to Korver by moving the D without touches.
Lamb's game definitely hues closer to Sessions and a scoring attacker like Wiggins. If anything, Belinelli like Hawes and Batum are ideal teammates for Lamb.

Re: Official: #22 Traded For Marco Belinelli (straight up)
Watching the Italy/Croatia Olympic qualifier, which just headed to overtime. Down 2, ball was in Belinelli's hands and he made a nice drive that included shaking his defender with a behind the back dribble, but had to make a tough attempt under the basket and it juuuuuust rimmed out. Fortunately for Italy another guy tipped it in.
I've never seen him on the ball so much, he doesn't look bad running point but it doesn't seem to be translating to raw numbers. Lots of ball movement though, so maybe he has some hockey assists.
18 points, 2 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals

Oh and Bogdanovich looks great. Clearly Croatia's best player today even though they have Saric and Hezonja.
