Thunder took over in the 4th ans we lost by 9. On the bright side Brice Johnson played much better today and we earned 2 points for winning 2 quarters.

Roy Williams came on during the halftime segment and talked about how Brice's poor body language is not meant to be disrespectful. Williams says he was hardest on Johnson than anybody else during his tenure at UNC. The kid wants to be better and responds to tough love for whatever reason.

Vince Carter compared his post scoring a bit to Antawn Jamison, like I did among others in the dedicated Brice Johnson thread. I believe both cited his holding the record for most points, rebounds, and blocks indvidually in Big East tournament games.

Our draft picks scored well in this game but we couldn't finish off the Knicks. At the end of the 4th and into OT we had about 5 straight turnovers. That's why we lost, couldn't take care of the ball today.

I'm really impressed with Johnson's range. Really impressed. And Diamond Stone, can flat out score. Michineau seems to have the pick & roll fairly down so I suppose thats a plus with him

The draft picks along with Dawson look pretty good. It sucks that we're not playing in the Vegas summer league. The more playing time for these guys the better. Short summer league(Orlando), giving away 1st rounders like candy, no NBDL tea, etc. Wake the f*ck up Doc or Steve Ballmer.. Build the future! Stop being so lazy with development!

When Johnson did finish possessions, he unleashed an array of soft mid-range jumpers and dead-eye turnarounds. None of the bouncy baller's points came around the rim, which is staggering given the aerial assaults he's orchestrated in Orlando.

i can't really remember doc being so focused on a guy in the draft like he was with brice, at least based off of his comments.

so i think that definitely adds to any chances that brice will be asked to immediately contribute. unfortunately for him, doc has an extremely short leash with anyone who so much as blinks on a missed rotation, (paul pierce/jeff green/jamal crawford notwisthanding). if anything i would bet on him being yanked around quite a bit.

Rivers Talks Johnson Advice, Clippers’ Offseason On NBATV

As Rivers told NBATV Thursday at Orlando Summer League, it was the way Johnson let his start affect him that needed adjusting. After a game the first-round pick described as one of the worst of his life, Rivers gave Johnson a call.

“We had a good phone conversation after the first game,” Rivers said. “The only thing I told him, I didn’t like he showed everybody he played poorly with his body language. I told him, ‘Just get to the next play.’”

Rivers said he told Johnson he’s going to be a brilliant player, but he needed Johnson to play harder and more focused.

“’You’re going to have bad games,’” Rivers said to Johnson. “That’s one of the things I teach my guys all the time – you’ve got to be willing to go 0-for-40 to be a good basketball player, and go out there and play. No one’s mad at you for missing. I’m mad at you for thinking about the missing.”

I think the difference is that we're so thin that Brice's leash length won't matter this year.

As long as he plays with energy, he'll probably keep getting minutes to work out his fit in the NBA.
