Re: What now?
Monroe we'd probably get assets to take, we need to cash in. Cousins is the only player we have a chance of getting i'd give up assets for. Just how many. The kings can't be so bad they don't see they are 1000% losing him for nothing at all in 2 years. No chance to keep him. Next year he's in the last year of his deal and like Howard and Horford this year, teams will just wait and sign him. They have to trade him this year. Have too. Now or deadline, i think he has more value now. He gets injured or blows up on another coach, they are screwed.

They sit tight. They are in prime position to make the trade they want. If a smart trade idea comes through then go for it. Those Nets picks are absolute gold. You don't give them away unless it's for a dynamite player that will seamlessly fit in with the rest of the roster.
That negates Cousins and thank god.

Re: What now?
After moves we have made, what makes you think Cousins doesn't fin in with the rest of the roster or a dynamite player?
Scores off dribble, post up, spot up, and 3. Gets to the foul line. Rebounds on offense and defense. Plays good defense, good help defense, good PnR defense, nearly 7ft tall. Most skilled center in the NBA.
You can come with the hot head, or try and say empty stats on a bad team, but the rest of that argument is sad.

Gay wants a trade. I wonder what this means for Sacramento. Hopefully Cousins wants out as well. It would be our best opportunity.

Re: What now?
I don't think Kings will move him until next offseason, they will want to see how Joerger goes with Cousins first and the fact they need to fill that new stadium.
Yeah he will be expiring then but the price will be "less" and I rate our chances a lot higher at retaining him than Westbrook.

The problem with Cousins is he'd cost everything we have and while he's clearly a good player on the court, there's a) no evidence he is a winner and b) tons of evidence he's a coach-killer and a cancer. So you'd be taking a big chance.
Meanwhile an incremental nice that costs less, like Okafor, might move the team forward while preserving at least one of the Nets picks and cap space and the team identity.

Re: What now?
I'm firmly in the camp of keeping the 2017 pick. To compete with the Warriors, you need to raise your bar. Ainge will have to hit on Brown and hit on the 2017 pick. Then either lure a big free agent in 2017 or trade for one with the 2018 and 2019 picks as possible pieces to facilitate.

Curious what those standing offers are.

Standing offers reads to me like we're probing around the league and will come back to those and pull the trigger if nothing else comes about.
