Re: 2016 Free Agency Day
How do you guys feel about giving Scotty Hopson the Room MLE for two years with a team option on the 2nd year?

Considering I couldn't tell you a single notable thing he's done in the NBA, nah I'm sure we can find better.
EDIT: He's played 2 NBA games in his entire career. So yeah I'm sure there's nothing notable in there.

Re: 2016 Free Agency Day
Pretty sure Hopson had a cup of coffee here after the Powell trade a few years back. He got bounced around several times before eventually getting cut.

Re: 2016 Free Agency Day
Just got a ESPN alert saying we traded Luke Babbitt to Miami...Yeah.
Heat have made several moves today with their Wade cap space: Babbitt, Ellington, James Johnson
and Derrick Williams. Plus the impending Tyler Johnson decision.

Re: 2016 Free Agency Day
If I'm Brooklyn I'm going after Harkless now, young wing with a lot of upside and I doubt Portland matches another big offer.

I just realized that Terrence Jones is still out there.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Yep, and no one has gotten DMO to sign an offer sheet.

He's definitely now at the top of my list, wonder if MKG has stumped for him. With James Johnson signing for $4M I've gotta think we're inching into our $2.9M range. Here's the Vertical's best remaining list:
POINT GUARDS
Raymond Felton
Norris Cole
Aaron Brooks
Greivis Vasquez
Ty Lawson
Steve Blake
Shane Larkin
Kirk Hinrich
Isaiah Canaan
WINGS
Dion Waiters, restricted
J.R. Smith
Lance Stephenson
Alan Anderson
Marcus Thornton
Jason Terry
Alonzo Gee
Markel Brown
Kevin Martin
Randy Foye
Maurice Harkless, restricted
Gerald Green
Chase Budinger
BIGS
Donatas Motiejunas, restricted
Terrence Jones
Luis Scola
Brandon Bass
Josh Smith
Jordan Hill
Kris Humphries
J.J. Hickson
Udonis Haslem
David Lee
Thomas Robinson
Jason Thompson
Jared Sullinger, restricted
Tyler Zeller, restricted
Miles Plumlee, restricted
Chris Kaman
Kevin Seraphin
Chris Andersen
I just know we're gonna end up with Humphries.

already have three point guards, but I wouldn't say no to Ty Lawson
WINGS
Dion Waiters, restricted
J.R. Smith
Lance Stephenson
Alan Anderson
Marcus Thornton
Jason Terry
Alonzo Gee
Markel Brown
Kevin Martin
Randy Foye
Maurice Harkless, restricted
Gerald Green
Chase Budinger
Waiters, Smith, Harkless probably make too much. Lance probably as well. Of this entire list, only Lance, Smith, and Harkless are even passable defensively, so they're the only ones I'd be remotely interested in. Outside of that, I'd rather just get a D-Leaguer that can defend.
BIGS
Donatas Motiejunas, restricted
Terrence Jones
Luis Scola
Brandon Bass
Josh Smith
Jordan Hill
Kris Humphries
J.J. Hickson
Udonis Haslem
David Lee
Thomas Robinson
Jason Thompson
Jared Sullinger, restricted
Tyler Zeller, restricted
Miles Plumlee, restricted
Chris Kaman
Kevin Seraphin
Chris Andersen
I just know we're gonna end up with Humphries.
of this list, I'd take any of them except Sullinger, Lee, Smith, Kaman, or Scola. I'd take any of the others for the $2.9M room exception. I'd be pretty happy with Kris Kardashian at that price. Though my top 5 would be Terrence Jones, Hill, Thompson, Plumlee, or Zeller.

Are we under the cap now with Troy heading out of town?

Nope, now that Marvin and Nic's signings are official, we're sitting at $98,216,665. We only have the room exception and minimum contracts at our disposal. There is absolutely nothing advantageous about letting Troy go.

Do we know that they signed so their first years are above their cap holds?

Marvin got the max of his Early Bird Rights, a little over $3M more than his hold. Assuming Nic got $120M over five years, then the least his first year could be is $20,869,565; about $1M over his hold.

Correct. Even with Marvin and Nic's cap holds, we were probably just a couple hundred thousand underneath the cap after signing Sessions and Hibbert and trading for Bellinelli officially.

I find it odd that no news at all seems to be out there about him. The longer he goes without signing the better for us, IMO. Having MKG on our team doesn't hurt either.
