They'll probably need a few more to seal the division, which should be the ultimate goal. The good news is the second half schedule is easier on paper than the first. Sure would be nice to keep the ball rolling after the break and swing a deal or two for some pitching help at the deadline.

The Jays haven't had a better record at the ASB since 1992. Yeah, I'd say it's been pretty decent.

Honestly, I don't want any part of him. He's having a better year but the guy is coming off two seasons of hitting .217 and .226 with a .654 and .729 OPS. He has a -1.7 dWAR on the year. If anything Bruce should come out of RF and transition to 1B/DH. The Jays shouldn't go anywhere near Bruce. If he is coming for absolutely free, sure, but he's hitting much better this year so he is going to be an expensive acquisition.

The real fireworks began in the middle of the third inning, when McClendon got into a loud, animated dugout argument with Gose, who was promptly pulled from the game and banished from the dugout.

McClendon would not discuss removing Gose from the game; Gose had cleared out his locker following the contest.

While Jones returned to the Mud Hens lineup for the second game, Gose did not.

Chad Huffman said the dugout dust did not play a role in the offensive outburst.

“I don't think one necessarily leads to the other,” he said. "Everyone here is focused, and everyone is a professional.

“Everyone is ready to play no matter what happens.”

TORONTO -- A reported dugout spat involving Anthony Gose at Triple-A Toledo has resulted in the Detroit Tigers outfielder being sent home.

The Tigers aren't saying much right now, and manager Brad Ausmus called it concerning Sunday before the team played it series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays (1:07 p.m., FSD).

"Anytime a player reacts that way to the manager, it's concerning," Ausmus said. "It's certainly not anything that can't be dealt with or gotten past."

John Wagner of the Toledo Blade on Saturday reported Gose, optioned to Triple-A Toledo in mid-May, got into a shouting match with Mud Hens manager Lloyd McClendon during the first game of a scheduled doubleheader with the minor-league team.

McClendon pulled Gose in the third inning of the game and, according to Wagner, banished him from the dugout. Gose did not play in the second game of the doubleheader and his stall in the clubhouse was empty after.

"It happens," Chadd said. "It's happened here, it's happened with other clubs. It's heat of the moment. It happens in all sports. There's competitive frustration in everybody, and that's probably what came out."

This is the latest episode in Gose's free-fall since being moved to Toledo. He's hitting .185 with 11 extra-base hits, a .521 OPS and 75 strikeouts in 184 at-bats.

Gose recently had his spot in centerfield taken with the promotion of JaCoby Jones. Since then, he's rotated between the three outfield spots and served as designated hitter.

I feel like McClendon might be more likely to be at fault.

Baltimore 51 wins after 87 games, Boston 49 wins after 87 games, Toronto 51 wins after 91 games played... so the retractable roof playing it's part in keeping the schedule with games in hand throughout the regular season. Someone mentioned about an easier schedule for the remainder of games post all star break so hopefully things do some back around to balance out when the bullpen falters again or starters get roughed up or injured later on.

OT but does anyone think tulowiyzkis hip problems have anything to do with the fact he's always throwing on the Run? Also why are catchers such **** hitters. You would think their knowledge of game calling would make them the best hitters.
