According to Dan Lebatard Spo crushed the meeting with KD and steered him even more to Golden State.

KD pretty much had his mind made up between GS and OKC the entire time. Spo's pitch to Durant was that KD is the best player in the league but the shots he was getting in OKC are so difficult where other elite players such as Lebron and Steph get much easier shots.

Spo is a big data guy and he explained to KD how he can utilize him to get much more easier efficient shots in his system. It was then KD was even more assured he could get easier shots in Golden State.

Got a chuckle reading that since too many times we'd come out of a timeout and run the most inept offensive sets.

If he wants to alienate over 70% of the fan base - go for it. I would not have matched the Nets offer - that doesn't mean I hate him. Tyler Johnson I hope you morph into Magic Johnson - you're already sharing his last name and both have played for Riley - can't wait to see the transformation ...- Geez.

That's laughable. 70% of the fan base was on twitter telling him he wasn't worth a 1/4 of what the Nets offered him. We got a bunch of idiots for fans.

Its hard to fathom right now, but in 2-3 years people will adjust and realize 20 million is the new norm for role player and average starter type money. 30 million + is going to be the new max contract, look at what Conley got.

I think he's a perfect addition. Reed can play PF or Center. He's a good player and it's a cheap deal with some flexibility.

what makes you think he can play PF. He has limited skill even as a Center. The league is going smaller, more skill. You can't have non shooter non passer no handle at PF.

so with what we have now i can see us making the 6-8 seed and if bosh comes back healthy and we place him on a maintenance plan and monitor him all season long I can see us get as high as 4th. Our team is being built quite nicely to set us up for next FA period and we have locked up some good young players for a few years (im all for matching TJ dude HUSTLES and has a great work ethic and desire to play. Hes big time). If im riley right now I know there are a bunch of teams interested in goran and reports prove that to be true. id be willing to trade him and package mcbob to "sweeten" the deal for expiring end of the bench players or picks. contingent on that our roster will shape out like this

pg: richardson/weber
sg: johnson/ellington/mcgruder
sf: winslow/johnson/babbit
pf: bosh/williams/haslem
c: whiteside/reed

thats a young exciting core. If bosh cant come back we are definitely out of the playoffs but it gives us a chance to get a great pick. clear bosh's contract, ship off dragic/mcbob and be ready for whale hunting summer 17

and the UD signing as well as retention of TJ bodes well for the perception of our franchise. We definitely got scarred with wade leaving but the heats rep looks to remain intact

Reed is a bruiser, undersized center. Playing him at of would be a mistake. He uses his size well despite his height. Just need pelle now as third center.

won't be over the cap come february once bosh's contract gets off the books. cap only matters at the end of the season/offseason anyway.

I think I've seen you say this in other threads as well, but what makes you so sure that Bosh's salary won't be on the books by the end of the season? CB seems all set to play and supposedly the Heat pitched Durant on a healthy Bosh, so what am I missing?

I also think Bosh will play now. I think his treatment options will be different though and he won't play back 2 backs.

I'm thinking he'll take a blood thinner with a 6 hour half-life (READ; just under 12 hour duration), and have to take that dose twice a day on off days to be in its relative therapeutic index. On game days, he'll take it at 6 am and halt the nightly dosage until he has a thorough check up for internal bleeding after the game. No back 2 backs either.

Posting it in this thread in efforts to keep the Dwyane Wade Appreciation thread on topic.

From my perspective Reed isn't a big traditional center. He's smaller and faster. He can pass and has a good jump shot (to 12 feet out) as well being good off the glass. He does get blocks, but they're because of his guarding rather than the rim protection. I haven't checked the data - those are my impressions from what I saw last year mostly. Also, he hits free throws consistently.

i'd go a step further, he doesn't travel to away games unless we are playing like 4 games in a row on the road. no plane fights within 72hours of each other. get a bus for him or something

Elevation has nothing to do with it. The bus ride might actually be a worse option. Blood clots can occur from extended periods of sitting; long flights, long bus rides, etc.

Taking blood thinners helps keeps the blood from clotting...kind of. That's not exactly what it does. But it's easier to describe it that way. Lest we get into conversation about clotting factors and receptor cells and partial agonists or antagonists and such.

According to the latest calculations after next season the new cap will plateau at $102 million. That's almost 10 million less than many executives predicted just a couple of months ago.

The market clearly went crazy this offseason and many teams overspent with the rising cap in mind. But with a significantly lower cap, some of these (if not many) contracts signed will look absolutely horrible. I like Conley, but I don't want to pay him almost a third of my cap in 3 years when he'll be 32. Or Mozgov who'll be getting nearly 20% of the entire cap in his 4th year.

I really like TJ, but I definitely have my doubts about paying him almost $20 million in the last 2 years of his contract.

There will undoubtedly be a lot of buyer's remorse next summer. Let's hope TJ will be able to avoid it.

It doesn't work like that. It's not the flight itself that's the problem, it's the immobilization during it. It's the same on bus drives. Actually worse, because buses are more cramped and bus rides take longer than plane flights over same distances... He should get up and walk around during flights, use compression socks...

What factors will you consider as you look for your next team? Is there a specific thing you’re looking for as you talk to teams?

Reed: “I think the biggest thing is trying to get on an up-and-down, faster-pace team. I think that I really excel in that. I’ve done well in that kind of system, especially in Summer League last year when I played on a fast-paced Miami team and I was able to succeed. I think the biggest thing for me is getting in a position like that, where the point guard pushes the basketball and we play at a fast pace. I really feed off of that, turning defense into offense. I think that’s a big thing for me.
