Captain Jack back to GWS?? I saw a tweet not sure if at all credible. Would be funny though if they get all these retired players.

Rondo I'll give you. At the time of the trade, Bill Simmons was inconsolable and the Celtics clearly won that trade. But the rest of the trades were pretty insignificant in terms of what pieces were getting moved around. That's Ainge's prerogative but the debate was whether Ainge was reluctant to engage in a meaningful trade unless he doesn't have a choice (expiring player that he's not bringing back) or he's just killing the other team. I have yet to see a "fair" trade involving Ainge that wasn't the result of getting something for a guy before he walked.
I know you are part of the anti-Ainge brigade here so I might be wasting my time pointing this out, but this is true of most teams.
This really has nothing to do with what I'm quoting but was just curious, are you and your DAL cohorts a little saddened that Crowder did get shipped off for Rondo knowing now what he's developed into?
If I remember, he was actually ballin for you guys before he got traded and I thought he was just a throw-in into that deal. I could be wrong but I don't think BOS was really targeting him as the centerpiece of that deal. Just curious what Mavs peeps sat on that?
I don't think any of us were happy including him, but at the time he was only playing 10 mpg and so while I wish we could have kept him, I wasn't that upset about it really. Wright was definitely a bigger on-court loss at the time.
Good on Boston for getting him in the deal and putting him in a position to succeed. Was a really good dude in Dallas and I'm honestly happy for the guy that's he's blossomed into a solid starter. Now hopefully the throw-in Dwight Powell can carve out a role as a 3rd or 4th big eventually in Dallas to soften that blow a bit.
But while I loved the trade at the time because I was sure Rondo was going to be at his best wanting to get paid---without question Dallas lost that trade big time. Tho I don't think its a sign of Ainge ripping Dallas off as much as Rondo failing to perform. If he has a quality year then....

Aaron Brooks to the Pacers could be fun. Shams is talking about that, and Jack to the Hawks.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

May mean nothing but these Boston radio guys are saying Ainge has something in the works.

I'm not normally a fan of most radio guys' credibility, but if we're going with random rumors this sounds about right.

Re: Random Rumor Thread: Post em here
I've talked to a few people this morning and I'm starting to put some stuff together. I have no intention of putting this on Twitter until it is a LOT more solid, but here it is:
The Okafor stuff re-starting is just a smokescreen. The Celtics like him, but they are going a different direction.
With Gay wanting to move, the Kings have been packaging him with Koufos and getting no one to bite.
The Clippers loved the way they played with 4 smalls around Jordan. They wouldn't mind starting Mbah a Moute at PF, provided they could upgrade at SF, ideally with someone who could slide up to PF. The Clippers also want someone to back up Jordan beyond. Speights.
The Celtics are hinting at a big name which sounds a lot to me like Blake Griffin. And the Celtics are holding off doing anything with Holland (nice extra piece for salary matching that could just be waived by the new time ie: Chris Babb last year) and Zeller (maybe a S&T). Pierce would also go back to Boston to close out his career with the Celtics.
So, I think there exists the potential for a three team trade that delivers Griffin to Boston, Gay to the Clippers, and Crowder and pieces to Sacramento. Sacramento really likes Rozier and Collison has the pending legal troubles.
It wouldn't shock me at all if something comes together in the next few days. It also wouldn't surprise if nothing comes together at all. A regular trade is hard enough, adding another team makes it that much harder.
Dropped this in another thread, but fleshing it out a bit htere.

Any whispers of Cousins? A few days ago Danny was saying they need a "stronger center" . Further more, I assume part of Al Horford FA pitch would be he play the 4.

Why would the Clippers not just cut out Sacramento and get Crowder for themselves? And why is Gay worth Crowder and pieces?
Maybe I underrate Gay?

Beyond that, there's a lot of value to make up between Griffin and Crowder. The pieces must include the 2017 BKN pick, right?

Yeah, if they get that BKN first, that's the world of difference. They get their vet, wing scorer and a top 5 pick next year.

Agreed. There is obviously value to be made up between Griffin and either Crowder or Gay, but my main question is why is Sacramento even in this?

If clippers trade Blake for the trash spoken about they should fold the franchise and Content Deleted Chuck It would be the icing on the cake of a disastrous tenure by doc.
I'm not sure there was ever an appropriate time for those comments, but with what is going on in this country at the moment it definitely isn't the case right now. Thanks.

From the original post it sounds like the Clippers want both a solid backup C (Koufos) and (more importantly) a 3 that can also slide over to the 4 to play small ball. Gay can easily do that, but Crowder is a bit undersized to play the 4. So while Crowder should demand more value for Gay, it sounds like Gay fits what the Clips want a lot more than Crowder.

The entire point of trading Koufos is because the front court has too many players that need minutes. Why would the Kings want to take back another front court player that needs minutes?

Probably just to match salaries. Amir is an expiring, and a decent player. They might be able to flip him for a decent young guy. But, overall I agree with your point, just not a lot of options for this scenario.

Just to close the loop:
I've got nothing new. Complete radio silence. And that generally means some stuff is happening that no one wants shared.
We'll see what happens.

Summer league is almost done.
1 or two more days I think it gets hectic for a bit.

I had the same question. Sac makes out like Bandits in this scenario. doesn't seem like they need to be involved unless clipper really want gay over Crowder.....
personal note I am a little edgy about giving up Crowder and likely additional assets for one year rental of Griffin.

If Ainge is smart he goes for Cousins not Griffin
Crowder, 2017 Brooklyn pick, Smart
for
Cousins, Gay, Collison
Horford - Cousins is a nice duo

That'd be quite the sweep for Boston.
