Yea this scenario is just unrealistic.
However, I do think that a reasonable best-case scenario is for us to get the 8th seed. I don't think it's likely though.

This team is young, and they're going to lose a lot of games by 5 points or less. One of the x-factors going forward is whether Russell develops as our closer; it'll mean the difference in a lot of close games.

We have seen what a few months has done to D'Angelo's game. Seems to be taking on that alpha dog title particularly on Sophomores down. Excited to see how Randle and even Clarkson have progressed this off-season as well. More interested in Randle's adjustments though as he is essentially coming off his rookie season.

We're built to begin being in a competitive place in a couple years down the road without having to sign a big name.... I honestly believe we have some special players on our hands that will rival most teams in the league in the future. Even if we sign a big name tomorrow, he won't help until the kids mature and by then there's a good chance we won't need a big named player because we'll have developed our own

Absolutely yes. Talent wise, we are already TOP 8 in the Western Conference. However, a lot of things should happen in order to make the playoffs: no injuries, great chemistry, our young core improves, the signings fit in, etc...

I never said i didnt like where the Lakers are at this juncture with the young kids, although I disliked the signings. I was only responding to the notion we are top 8 talent right now in the western conference. We are not.
