The thing with Willie though is that he's never going to be a guy that creates his own offense and I think (hope) we've all known that. What we need him to do is clean stuff up around the rim and be able to knock down a midrange jumper. His finishing around the rim has been concerning for sure but the problems we're seeing aren't necessarily going to be situations we see him used in during the regular season but it's nice for him to get the opportunity here regardless. I also would still like to see him be a better rebounder too, he needs to use his body more than just watching and trying to jump after it.

After the game Coach Gates brought up a good point about Papa referencing moving to a different country and playing ball right away at 18 years old can be difficult for some. Papa is out of his element and his game could be affected. Probably some truth there.

I wouldn't be too disappointed in Willie. It just needs to settle in that Willie most likely is what he is. He's a nice role player in the right situation. Willie is the type of player where you have to toss out his draft position and who you passed on to take him and take him for what he is. You never know, the "he's going to re-define the position" hype could come true, but this is still someone that didn't come out as some raw 19 year old prodigy and shouldn't be treated as such. He didn't produce in particular areas in college and he's yet to show he's going to produce in them at the NBA level. But, while he's a lower ceiling guy he brings certain things to the table, those certain things can be really important if used correctly.

Skal on the other hand might be a different story. He's got serious potential on both ends but he's going to take some time for sure.

I'm a Lithuanian. Just wanted to say that Gudaitis has really regressed during the last year :( He looked really promising in the year before that playing in Euroleague which is a much superior basketball than Summer League, but then he changed clubs and just didn't look the same ever since. :(

When Vlade made that pick which shocked the league, he was either ahead of the pack or behind it.

Summer league is always difficult for a player like him who gets almost no chance to F up. Willie gets the whole game, and he gets 1 or 2 possessions.

KF10 wrote:Skal probably fits the best next to Cousins out of the players we have at the 4, imo. Skal's offense is better than advertised. His J looks good and his interior work isn't bad itself either. He still needs to add more muscle to his frame and improve his timing on defensive plays. If he manages to play his cards right, he is the next Ibaka, imo.

Ya ska lid literally perfect next to Boogie. Great mid range and with his arch and mechanics he'll be hitting 3s. On defense he's a shot blocker who will be great in pick and roll coverage. His weight issue will be a problem but in this era what PF is really gonna back him down.
Love(maybe), Bosh, Holford, A.Davis, ZBo, Aldridge,Favors, and Griffin. That's not a lot of post up bigs.
And people can say its summer league but SL is for guards not bigs who are allegedly 2 years away

This can be a game changing steal for Vlade

Papa needs time, I hope that he soon shows, how good he is. But he is still 18 and it is a big step for him.
So far Skal look like a steal at the position you drafted him.
I think he was much higher on the mock drafts early in the pre-draft season. What happened and he ended lower than expected ?

I think WCS will be just fine when the season begins, he has never and will never be a guy you throw the ball into during half court offense. His bread and butter is running the break, put backs, and obviously defensive versatility. If Skal can reach his potential than having DMC/Skal/WCS as the 3 man big rotation would be amazing. Every player brings a different skill Skal almost looks like the hybrid not as good of a scorer as Cousins and not as good defensively as WCS but he will be able to play both sides of the court efficiently.

Papa worries me a lot. Guy just hasn't looked good when I've watched him play, hoping that it's growing pains but even when we drafted him I thought it was more of a longterm backup plan to Cousins than anything.

Richardson is impressive his length and shooting seem to be perfect for the modern NBA. Very excited about next year with him and Bogdan sharing the minutes at 2g that could be a really good combo. From what I've read Bogdan can also handle and pass very well maybe some thoughts about playing them together at times?

It's on ESPN 3. Papa is looking good to start this one. More active than the last game.

Skal draws a lot of fouls, but the moves are ugly, and I don't think he will be rewarded for them in the NBA.
