Re: Westbrook leaving per Wiretap?
Hi OKC Fans,
Firstly, I know how it feels to have your heart ripped out when your star players leaves - re: Bosh -> but tbh this was a blessing in disguise. KD is a great player - but you don't want someone to be in your organization whose heart lies elsewhere.
I'm looking at the OKC roster, and seeing all these rumours floating around of westbrook wanting a trade, westbrook wanting to leave etc... I find this utterly ridiculous.
Firstly - Westbrook is from LA -> going to Boston to join Horford, IT, and Crowder quite frankly is a downgrade.
OKCs roster is stacked.
West
Waiters
Roberson
Kanter
Adams
You have a great balance of defensive players and offensive players with Westbrook spear heading the offence. I do think there is a spacing issue, but I think Kanter will expand his range to those corner threes and roberson has shown improvement same with waiters with the comfort.
I think the OKC STILL has the length to take down GSW - yes they are stacked but Westbrook doesn't respect curry ... Waiters is a big guy , will give Thompson some trouble, and Roberson will give KD trouble. Draymond may have his way with Kanter, but you can always go small with dipo to counter that.
Anyway - the point of this post was to not feed into this silly negativity. The GM you have is spectacular - and even if WB gets traded, you will get an insane haul. I however think that West will take a full max after he opts out and stays with OKC. The re-negotiation of the CBA will put heavier fines on these silly super teams and OKC going forward will be able to rise again.
I love this team and I feel for the fans - but you have a great future. KD isn't a champion - if he was, he wouldn't join the enemy.

Oladipo is the SG.
And Kanter's probably still off the bench.
And the rumor wasn't that he was leaving, but that Boston should try to get him.

"I don't think anybody knows for certain what Russell Westbrook wants to do or intends to next summer," said Beck. "But that said, let's just say there's a very strong suspicion, a strong belief among rival GMs that Russell Westbrook is not intending to stay and that he would leave next summer when he hits free agency. Because of that, the logical next step for Sam Presti, who is always ahead of the curve on these things, will look to trade him. I don't know that this is happening at this point."

Too much of that length is gone with with Durant and Ibaka no longer in the frontcourt.

I was using Boston as an example - but the title was that GMS expect him to be traded... regardless. The proposed lineup was to have a balance of offence and defence. Whatever the lineup is I don't think they will suffer as badly. Westbrook will get other guys involved. The young guys have a duty to grow into their potential now, and Westbrook is the key to allowing them to do that.

I think that Ibaka was a step slow last season -from what I saw. Roberson is also growing as a player. I still think they have a lot of two way players - not to the calibre of a 30PPG scorer + length but they still have a complete team. If your youngsters pan out - West leading the charge won't be so outlandish. your team is still oozing talent.

GMs also expected Love to be traded. Meh. I'll buy it when it happens.

I don't see it happening - but if it does, again, Presti like Masai will fleece teams. That haul for a rental ibaka was unreal. Even Masai couldn't believe it.
DeMar is also from LA and he didn't bolt - I expect Westbrook to also stay put.

Everyone's going to LA or Boston, until they don't. Just avoiding the gen board at this point.

West
Waiters

Kanter

Not enough shooting. Teams would just pack in the paint.

I love these "Unnamed GMs expect Player X and Team Z to do something" news. Why should I give a damn what do these (likely made up) GMs expect about teams which aren't theirs?

I think that Roberson will only shoot jumpers in the offseason. He went to work in the playoffs. He is inconsistent but he is clearly improving in that category. The only question mark is waiters... he is super inconsistent. I think Kanter can hit the corner three like Pau.

Yup SAS said Demar is 100% going to LA LOL. Granted DeMar is no where near Westbrook or Durant - it was just annoying hearing that our star player will bolt to an inferior team just because lol

Re: Re: Westbrook leaving per Wiretap?
Hopefully OKC keeps Westbrook. We have a on going debate on the Lakers board about this. I'm on the, no way am I trading my young assets for a 28 year old Westbrook to then get worked by GSW. I rather keep our young guys and in 5 years hopefully they're ready to contend. Good luck guys.

Re: Re: Westbrook leaving per Wiretap?
I'm scared of Westbrook being traded. I want him to come to the Magic. I definitely do not want to see him go to the Celtics, The Celtics got Horford and didn't lose anybody other than Evan Turner so of course the Celtics got better with Horford and we don't need the Celtics to get even better with Westbrook. NOR do I want Westbrook to go to any other Eastern Conference team but my team. I rather he get traded to a WESTERN TEAM if not us.

Thanks man, tbh I think that's the best course for you guys too. I was a skeptic of Russell but he's looked amazing in Vegas and Ingram was my top prospect for the draft.

Good lord Howard Beck is really going all in with those click bait pieces huh. If I'm gonna see one more 'Rival GMs think their Rivals should be come worse' article...

Don't think so. Only players I think Serge had legit beef with were Griffin and Reggie.

Very true. These "reports" are often just speculation.
On a related note though do you guys expect to trade him by the deadline if he hasn't committed in any way?
It's a very rare circumstance. Usually I think most people would agree it's worth the risk seeing if you can re sign him even without commitment within the season. Having durant leave though the franchise will be under tremendous pressure to not lose both guys for nothing.
Very lame for thunder fans.
