Watching all the Utah summer league games I was really impressed with Arci (true PG) and Forbes (cold blooded shooter) then the final game happened and there is a clear difference in ceiling when seeing the talent that is DeJounte Murray.

I'm sure he felt hurt sliding in the draft but being a Spur is going to be the difference between All Star and bust for him. He needs a lot of work on defense and shooting the ball. Is there a better team to develop those skills?

I may be in the minority, but KA is about to play a lot of 4 this year. That's how they played him in this summer league and it's working. KA's game is unique and abstract, I expect a breakout season from him. He improved his shot so much! Whatever he's been doing since OKC eliminated the good guys he needs to keep doing it.

Simmons was up and down. I love his talent and physical tools but I worry his flaws (control/discipline) are going to keep him out of real playing time.

The kid's raw tools are almost jaw dropping.

Agreed. Arci and Forbes have looked like NBA players. Arci looks like your typical scrappy 2nd/3rd string PG and Forbes almost looks like a Gary Neal clone to me.

Also agree with you on Anderson. PF is probably his best position and looking at what we've done so far this summer those minutes behind LMA look to be his.

I am really interested to see how everyone plays together in Las Vegas. With Anderson, Simmons, Bertans, Forbes and Murray there may not be enough basketballs to go around. Thay have all shown this summer that they can score so now lets see how they move the ball together which is what they will have to do in the NBA.

I really don't expect much out of Jean-Charles in this because he tends to coast and I don't see him asserting himself with all these other guys around.

What a letdown. Bertans and Jean-Charles aren't even there.....

Anderson, Murray and Simmons had their moments but Simmons also had his fair share of bonehead turnovers like with 24 seconds left and down by 2 he throws the laziest pass ever on the wing that gets stolen. (We were lucky to get the ball back and tie the game).

You can tell Anderson's been told to assert himself offensively this summer but he just barely gets by against this talent, in the NBA he will turn it over or get his shot blocked. I would be happy if he would just shoot and hit an open shot during the NBA regular season, I dont need him to be Mr. Playmaker....

Simmons just is what he is I'm afraid. He is a good energy guy for 3-4 minutes stretches off the bench. The more he plays the more he screws up. He just doesn't have basketball smarts IMO and its something you cant teach. Kind of a lesser version of Josh Smith. Very talented but low basketball IQ.

Murray looks like a rookie, talented but in over his head at times. He should only get better and better but we can't expect too much from him this season.

Forbes remembered he was actually Bryn Forbes and was the inconsistent shooter I saw at MSU. Soo much for that pipe dream.

The big men on this team are worthless. No one even worth mentioning from what ive seen.

Hej guys. How's Lorbek doing in SL? I know he only played 6min in one game, but how did he look? Rusty? Slow? He had a calf issue at the start of SL right? He hadn't play a game in 2 years because of his injury, but when healthy he was the best PF and a top 5 player in Europe.

He got a DNP-Coach's Decision last night. Not sure if that's because of his injury or what but if its not, that isn't a good sign because our big men that played did absolutely nothing. (well, Jarnell Stokes played ok but he's a SF)

I saw the one game he played in and it was real bad. He looked slow and looked like the injuries have hurt him a lot. Hopefully he looked better when the Spurs brought him in before the calf injury.

I did like how he was yelling at the young players when they were out of position. Unfortunately for him Summer League has a lot of that so Lorbek did a ton of yelling.

Like stated above, he got an DNP last night. His NBA chances aren't looking good.

Thanks! Sad to hear he didn't do better, I guess he still has time. I'm guessing it's the calf, I doubt SA would have him on the SL team if he was as bad. I was kind of hoping he'd do better, since he never relaid on his athleticism to score ( think Scola but with longer range). It's a big jump from not playing two years to the NBA even if it is just the summer league.

LJC didn't exactly look great in his debut, I feel like bringing him over now would be a mistake.

Simmons played decent last night but both he and Murray failed miserably in finishing that game. Simmons badly missed a FT to tie the game(guess he fits right in with the rest of the Spurs, LOL) and Murray missed two bunny layups in the last minute. It was Simmons big chance to lead the team with Anderson out but besides the above move, it was uneventful IMO.

To be honest I watched the game live and didn't even notice that Jean-Charles played (that's how much he effected the game sadly).

Lorbek also got some minutes and looked just slow and out of his league. No chance he plays for the Spurs.

Bertans looked good in his debut and Murray played a decent game. Encouraging how they took over without Anderson and Simmons.

Forbes also played well because his shot was falling but this is typical Forbes, he will look good 1 out of every 4-5 games if his shot is falling. Problem is that if his shot isn't falling he doesn't do anything else well enough for anyone to notice him or get playing time.

Arcadiacono played almost 19 minutes: 0 points, 2 assists and 1 rebound. You just cannot have a stat line like that in 19 minutes against summer league competition and expect to play in the NBA.
