Basically, any player that has made an ASG LA believes it can sign.

I personally think this Westbrook-LA connection is overstated. Look at KD. How did that Washington connection work out? Players these days just want to win and want to win now. I see RW going to another contender to put them over the edge. Just imagine is the Spurs signed him :o

Thing is, the Lakers might actually be crazy enough to gut their core in a trade for Westbrook.

OKC could get a haul of like three or four of LA's young players for him.

The Lakers are the same management that has given away multiple future first round draft picks for Nash at the end of his career and Dwight with one year left on his contract.

Aside from Ingram, I would empty the farm for RW. That LA connection might be enough reason to make him resign.

Then again the Lakers just spent
$140 million dollars on Timofey Mozgov and Luol Deng!

This offseason will be remembered as the one that will haunt them for years to come.

Believe it or not I would give up Ingram in a heartbeat and the only young guy on the Lakers I would really try to hang onto is Russell.

? Russell would be redundant as he would be relegated to backup duty behind Westbrook. So you hang onto Ingram as their is too much potential there. You give up Russel at first and Randle and probably have to give up Clarkson as well. You hold onto Ingram at all costs. And I am not even sure they feel they need to make a trade for him as they may feel why give up anything when we could have one of the best shots at signing him in 2017.

That idea became nothing more than a pipedream smoked out of the peace pipe.

I know it happened. It just happened for nothing as Nash's injuries caught up to him and killed the Lakers chance of going on a championship run. At least on paper that is.

John Murdoch has a point. It's only been 20 years.

Doubt it. The next few years will be painful for Laker fans. Just like the last few ;)

Clearly the Lakers have a far better chance of signing Westbrook than Orlando does. That's why you don't gut the team to trade for him. Having said that, the Lakers were overconfident with Dwight to and they did gut the team to get Nash and Howard and it obviously backfired on them.

So, Orlando has a shot, sure, but their best shot is to keep their assets, and to show what they can do. It they can make the pitch that Westbrook is the final piece they need, then they still have a shot at signing him. It always was a long shot though...
