Idea: Splitter goes back to SAS

Would you guys be willing to do Splitter for the Spurs 2017 first round pick?

Tiago already knows the system and he can pair up with LMA and replace Duncan on short notice.

Atlanta gets cap space to maybe make room for one more big move to get a SF. Hawks also get a very low 1st round pick, because now that the Thunder lost Durant, I have the Spurs and Warriors as the top two teams in the west with the Clippers as a very very distant 3rd.

8.5 million dollars for him to sit out half the season? Nah fam. He'd be good off the bench with Manu and company but i can't trust his injury issues

Agreed. I like Tiago and I'd take him back for a heavily protected 2nd rounder or the rights to Lorbak or something else of little valve but yeah wouldn't give up a real asset for him the injuries are a real issue with him.

Good rebounding ability.
Good passing ability.
Decent scoring ability.

What he lacks is the most important ability and that's availability.

I'd take him back for the pick. Not saying Spurs couldnt get someone good at #27-30 but chances are Splitter is better and if he came off the bench he might be fresh for the postseason.

Miss Splitter's elite overall defense and pick-roll game, and a consistently good passing... length around the basket

But just can't seem to stay healthy. Would be great if Atlanta did a salary dump to us.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of Kyle Anderson right now, so I'd trade him for Splitter if it was possible, because it'd make the team better as a whole, and clear way for Simmons and LJC on the guard and big-wing spots (3/4). The trade-off would be Splitter's health.

I don't see Anderson panning out to be a match-up problem consistently like we want him to be. I wouldn't be surprised to see him as a young trade chip at the deadline to get some extra creativity off the bench if he doesn't get going.

I hope he does, he's shown flashes and has been nice to have at times, but more underwhelming than not.

I would love to dump Splitter's salary and get a low pick in return, and help the Spurs in the process, because you guys are the only team that has a shot at stopping the Warriors next year if you guys get some bench post players soon.

But if the Spurs aren't willing to give up a pick, then the Hawks could easily do Splitter to Memphis for Rade Zagorac, or Splitter to New Orleans for Cheick Diallo

I know I'm higher on Anderson than most people around here but trading him straight up for Splitter doesn't sound like a great idea.

Anderson can at least play every night and Splitter's good for what maybe 50 games a year? I'd rather play Anderson every night than role the dice on Splitter's health.

Yes. You can tell that the franchise is going to give Anderson every opportunity to be a major piece for us. A lot is riding on him IMO. If he blossoms into a star, the Spurs will continue to be a major contender. If he fails, I think we might be in for a bit of a decline.
I'm not sold on him yet either but that's what I see from how the franchise is treating him.

With all that said, there is no way we move him, even for 2 Splitters.

Yeah, I hear ya.. just not sold on Kyle yet in a major rotation role. I think this is his make or break season with the Spurs.

If he can be like Diaw offensively and competent defensively (wasn't bad when not overmatched physically, in terms of vs. quickness) - then good Small-ball four. Actually defended Durant relatively well a number of times one-on-one.

I don't like the trade ideas, but damn we really do need to get a real bench post guy right now. Our bench is very depleted. Dedmon is not a guy I hope we have to count on for regular minutes.

I don't think he'll ever be a star. As far as I'm concerned his ceiling is 2014 Diaw, maybe a little better. I think if he can just give us 15-25 minutes a night of decent play behind Kawhi and LMA we'll be fine.

Wouldn't consider trading Anderson right now. I consider him to be the fifth-most valuable Spur. I'd love Tiago back, though. Has to be on the list of targets next off-season.

Unless we get someone better overall (which likely won't happen), Dedmon is a guy we will definitely be counting on at the five primarily off the bench... his fouls will need to be toned down is all.

Especially when Pop goes to rest Gasol and Aldridge - he'll be bumped up. I am excited to see his impact for us.
