Low risk, high reward. Guarantees he puts forth max effort and meets conditioning goals or he's out.

That hammer dunk he threw down in the qualifiers was sick. I'd like to see him bring some of that here.

One of the biggest draft busts ever, but it looks like he's worked hard to lose weight and get stronger. Not a big risk at minimum but he is another development project for Atkinson. How many projects can Atkison take on in a year anyways? xD

lol wow didn't see this one either....

I thought it was kind of obvious this was going to happen. I believe he's a bust but not his fault CLE picked him first.

Lets hope he shows us some good

BTW, its not a bad idea for Marks to sign someone not on the decline or a "project" for Atkinson.... I'm sure he'll be happy for some good players.

We were going to have more projects if Crabbe and TJ's respective teams didn't match. Having any player go from 10-15 mpg to 30mpg is a massive jump. It's a completely new context for which the player will have to find a way to be consistently effective over much longer stretches of time than they're used to.

Plus, I'm sure Whitehead, LeVert and Bennett will also be spending a good amount of time in Long Island. I'm not putting much faith in Bennett anyway. It's extremely rare for players to break out after failing on multiple teams.

Side note, maybe this will lit a fire under CMC.

I know its super early beinthat this could be his first full season in the NBA but CMC can raise his game quicker knowing there's someone behind him wanting to knock him off the depth chart

I like the signing. There had to be some potential there for him to go #1 overall and since it's a minimum deal with only the first year guaranteed.

I would also have liked for the Nets to have gotten T. Jones for a 1 year deal that it looks like he is signing with the pelicans.

You've reopened the old wound dude.. I really wanted TJ here and it hurt like hell when Mia matched. But yeah you're probably right. It's unlikely that White, LeVert or Bennett are on the list of priorities for Atkison or Nets in general.

Nice low risk signing. The dude has the potential to be good (e.g., his play on Team Canada is pretty good). He just needs consistent motivation and an environment without any expectations.

Yes! Love it!

He can really dunk. If he can get his shot back. (confidence) He would flourish playing with Lin in the open floor and PnR. As long as he starts out not trying to do too much.

Booker and Scola are two of the best players for him to learn from. He could be the hustle guy, stretch four, dunker that Booker is; or he could learn how to post up from Scola so he could abuse smaller 3s.

We shall see whether it's his inability or it's cuz he was playing with guards like Waitors and Irving in CLE and LaVine and MoWill in Minny.

Him being a tweener is gonna be a problem defensively tho. Well, it's kinda like getting a raw project from a late first rounder I guess. With a non-guaranteed second year, why not?

Thanks for the honesty.

It's a gamble of a move but the best the team can do at the moment. Marks is doing a great job with the situation he finds himself in. Hopefully the solid veterans will help some of these younger players rise to their potential.

I love this signing tbh. I think he's got loads of potential and has never had the proper time to develop into the kind of player he can be. I think the Nets are going to get very lucky on this one. Atkinson should have a field day turning Bennett into a contributing role player.

I would go Booker (20) / Bennett (16) / Scola (12) RBBC approach, all featuring their different strengths around Lopez for short bursts of time. Booker to be the energy, gritty guy, Bennett to be the aggressor, and Scola to be the stretch guy. I would seriously consider leaving CMC with the LI squad for another year and just let him get as much time as possible considering he's still the youngest. Bring him up next year when Scola is gone, and see if he deserves it.

I have no problem with this signing, especially we've been scouting him a minute. Can't hurt to give him a chance, not sure if he was given a fair chance in the league so far.

I hope Lin can do what he did to Ed Davis to Anthony Bennett. Would be nice to have a beast down low for the minimum for 2 years.

While he will never live up to being the #1 pick, he is still young enough to make something out of his career and be a solid role player. Expectations for him cannot be any lower than they are so hopefully he takes advantage of this opportunity.
