ST: Blue Jays @ Athletics | July 15-17

Post#1 » by Lateral Quicks » Fri Jul 15, 2016 1:32 am

The Jays travel to the land of vast green fields and no home runs.

Game 1: 10:05, Stroman (7-4, 4.89 ERA) vs Mengden(1-4, 4.54 ERA)
Game 2: 4:05, TBD (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Gray (3-8, 5.16 ERA)
Game 3: 4:05, TBD (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs TBD (0-0, 0.00 ERA) - naturally, our TBD > their TBD

The A's aren't very good this year, but West coast swings always have the potential to be rough. I'll be satisfied with 2 of 3 here.

I always go by the Jays website when I make these. It's down as Mengden for now.

Also, note to self: don't make threads when half asleep.

ESPN also has Mengden vs. Stroman.

Need to keep the momentum from before the break going if we want to stay in the hunt.

Meanwhile, in classic Red Sox fashion, they get Drew Pomeranz for a high-end prospect. Sigh. Really can't stress enough how important it is for the team and this city to stay competitive into August and September.

A couple of sites had Rich Hill pitching game 1 a couple of days ago, Oakland seems to have switched it up yesterday.

Rich Hill is almost certainly getting traded before the deadline isn't he?

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

He most likely is, but I read somewhere he had a blister on his pitching hand so he isn't making his start.

Anyone have an update on Bautista? Seems like he's been injured forever.

Other teams have way more need for a starter and better prospect options, so I doubt it happens. Jays have such awful prospect depth that any trade will be for a guy no ones talking about (ie some random reliever on the Brewers) or someone who doesn't fit an obvious need but still improves the team.

O's & Sox won tonight and you'd think the Jays would play with some sense of urgency but Stroman gets them in an early hole. I keep asking myself when will the Jays take over first in the East and I am not convinced they will b/c they keep looking up at those 2 teams who also have 4 games in hand over them.

Its 1.5 innings into the 1st game after the all star break...and having games in hand doesn't mean much, both of those teams could easily lose 3 of those 4 games they have in hand.

i dont know why martin still bats before tulo...lets not even look all the years before this, even when tulo struggled to begin the year he was hitting better than russell, i know that martin has been hot lately too, but tulo has been on fire
