If we are not getting back a lotto pick for Dragic then its not worth trading him .

No one will give us a lottery pick for him. He has little value to lottery teams, the teams that want him are playoff team.

The Trash I am offering is a young PG on a rookie contract easily trade able and a 10 mil expiring contract. If you are looking for a draft pick you wont get inside the top 20 for old man dragic.

Marco Belinelli just went for pick number 22, and George Hill went for 12. Both are 30 years old. Plus, Dragic's contract isn't looking so bad after seeing the money handed out under the new cap.

I don't think Dragic is being overrated here, as much as MCW is just being rated accurately. He has a career TS% of 47.7%, and his other advanced stats are just as bad. His cheap contract won't help us either since he will be a restricted FA next offseason. If any team views him as a starting point guard (which I don't), his contract would end up being comparable to Dragic's anyway.

He'll be 32 next summer (when we would presumably get him) and is one of the shortest players in the league.

He's good, don't get me wrong, but his Clippers tenure has sort of proven that him as an alpha dog doesn't really get you anywhere.

Now, as a 3rd option? Maybe. But do we really want to invest a 4 year max deal for someone with 10+ years in the league to a 3rd option?

i don't think you watch much of Chris Paul at all. you'll soon realize his value next offseason when he is an FA & every team will be clamoring to sign him.

These days the Superstars are both the Whale and the Whale hunter. I dont think CP3 wants to come here, but if he wanted to, you absolutely pursue that option for the simple fact that he makes others better and other stars would want to join him eventually down here.

Unless my math is wrong, next season (including the 1st round pick) we'll have 55 mil in cap space, with Bosh, Dragic, Winslow, Richardson, Johnson, and the 1st round hold. If Bosh retires (unlikely this year) that jumps to 80 million.

I don't know if there are super friends out there that want to team up, but I think a full scale rebuild is a bad idea. A lot easier to sell guys on being the missing piece than on being "the guy(s)". I think Dragic and a healthy Bosh can get us to 40-ish wins. Whiteside evolving (read: passing out of the post) might be mid 40's.

We were one win away from making it to the ECF without arguably our best player. We couldn't sell someone this year that they could easily vault us to the top of the east if you include Bosh and development of our young guys.

So basically, my point is, forget about hoping and praying that a superstar decides to come to our team and just focus on developing our own young core. The best (and fastest) way to do that is to go gull tank mode and get one of the top players in the draft. Once we start developing our young core, then it'll become even easier to attract marquee FAs.

If we owned our first rounders, I would agree with you, but outside of this season, our firsts become due to Phoenix for the Dragic trade. You can't go on a full scale rebuild when you don't own your firsts.

The best course of action is to try to be as competitive as possible to attract and sell a FA on being the missing piece to a hyper competitive (and young) team.

If we could get our 1sts back, I'd agree with you.

lol, he's trying to find some trade to get Noel to his team. He knows that if he offers MCW to the sixers they will laugh at him, and he realizes that just maybe Dragic will have more appeal with the sixers.

We traded a 2017 protected 1st, a 2019 unprotected first and a 2021 first.

A rebuild isn't a one year thing. Cleveland, with LeBron as the #1 overall pick, didn't make the playoffs until 2006. You can't full on rebuild with 3 firsts owed.
