Los Angeles Clippers: B

In two seasons since the Clippers drafted him in the first round in 2014, Wilcox had gotten on the court for just 268 minutes. So this is surely nothing more than a salary dump for the Clippers, for whom every dollar counts because they are hard-capped at $4 million above the luxury-tax line by virtue of using the non-taxpayer midlevel exception.

NBA free-agent action continued Wednesday and Thursday. Kevin Pelton breaks down the best and worst moves on Days 13 and 14, including Dario Saric signing with the Sixers.

Waiving Marble, whose contract is non-guaranteed through Friday, also creates an extra roster spot. After reportedly signing Raymond Felton earlier Thursday, the Clippers had 14 players under guaranteed contract, not counting 2016 second-round pick David Michineau (who's expected to join the team this season) and 2015 second-round pick Branden Dawson (whose 2016-17 salary is guaranteed). Moving Wilcox allows the Clippers to keep both Dawson and Michineau if they so desire without spending additional money.

Assuming that's the final 15-man roster, the Clippers have almost $3 million in wiggle room before reaching the hard cap.

Orlando Magic: C

From the Magic's standpoint, this is more like a challenge trade: swapping two third-year shooting guards. Wilcox was drafted far higher (28th vs. 56th), and though Marble has gotten slightly more playing time in the NBA, Orlando was planning to waive him before his contract became guaranteed, according to Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel.

Presumably, Orlando views Wilcox's outside shooting as potentially a better complement to the rest of the roster. He has shot 38.1 percent from 3-point range in his NBA career, and Wilcox will presumably have a better chance of earning playing time with the Magic than he did with the veteran-laden Clippers.

SHOCKER... :-?

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha, appreciate it. Pelton strikes again.

So we got something for nothing (no disrespect), as we were intending on waiving him, and we get C? smh

LMAO the guy clearly has it in for the Magic. Clips get cap space to sign a 2nd rounder and its a B lmao.

This is not going to happen but a part of me wants this guy to blow up and become a really good player so that we can make Doc look bad for pushing us to draft Jerryl Sasser and Reice Gaines for his tall PG obsession (passing on Tony Parker and Gilbert Arenas), and for keeping Steven Hunter over Brendan Haywood. Not keeping Ben Wallace. Also for his biggest gaffe, telling Tim Duncan's then fiance that no she can't fly on the team plane (W T H was he thinking?). You are supposed to say whatever you want you idiot until they sign. Rant over.

Timmy was ours too. Can't believe Doc Rivers ******* up that recruiting pitch to him and his wife Amy at the time. Hated Doc ever since that happened.

Lolololol Pelton seriously hates us... We swap a career bench warmer for someone who can actually contribute, AND we get some cash back too? And that's a C...? Yeah. Okay.

And agreed. Doc Rivers ruined this franchise for the early 2000s. If Tim's girl wants to ride in the plane, you let her come. Think about how many rings we'd have with Duncan and McGrady... I'm not counting Hill. He still would've still been useless and injured.

We exchange the 56th for the 28th pick and end up with a lower grade? LOL My God, I havent seen this much media bias since the MSNBC Republican debate.

How the hell does a thread discussing a trade of Devyn Marble and a 2nd rd pick for CJ Wilcox reach 6 pages?

His description of the trade isn't even negative. How could it be? He clearly just slapped the C on there out of principle.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

More like 3 pages of Marble/CJ and 3 pages of Chris Wilcox.

It was probably going to be a B and then he remembered it was the Magic who made the trade.

Grades are silly in general. I can't be that mad because it's not like Wilcox has ever shown anything (nor given the chance to) but also acquiring a first rounder for a second rounder should probably not get a C either. Whatever.

If you have those two, you don't have to rush Hill back from injury and let him recover properly

If I were grading the pundits I would give them a D for accuracy and a B+ for stirring up ****.

Here's a lesson they should teach every child in school. It's not the modern media's job to be accurate, there job is to generate traffic. Assume your buttons are being pushed at nearly all times. It's just like BMP but on a larger level.
