I feel like my constant monitoring of the buzz threads is somehow holding the trade up. I'm going to enjoy the day with my kids, maybe hunt some Pokémon, and will return to the trade thread (if it happens). No F5 mashing for me today. Enjoy your Saturday everyone!!

He could miss the whole season to injury and get a 4 year max next season from 6 teams. I think he might be interested in being traded to a team that he wants to sign with but I really don't see a scenario where he signs an extension.

He can pick his team now and end up significantly richer in the long run and also get an 8 million dollar gift for 2016. May be motivation there.

I get that part the extra money he gets this year is coming off what his max would be next year though. I edited my post to say that I am not sure how opening the CBA could impact FA. Maybe the union and his agent are telling him to take a 1 + an option.

The more I think about and read about the potential trades I'm starting to think the best thing would be to stand pat.

Me too.

If we want Griffin or Westbrook, wait until they are FA next summer.
I'd rather see Yabu, Jaylen and Rozier get more playing time, and if you have the opportunity at the deadline to trade for Cousins or Okafor/Noel, then do it.

Thomas / Rozier / Jackson
Bradley / Smart / Hunter
Crowder / Brown / Nader
Amir / Jerebko / Yabu
Horford / Olynyk

Ainge is shooting for the stars. I don't think it's going to work. Pretty soon it will be back to the Noel/Okafor rumors. Both teams need to move players before the season.

Our roster looks more balanced to me than last season at this time.

FWIW, I talked to two of my contacts this morning and neither had been getting back to me for days now. One of them said, "TBD" and the other said "Have your phone on and charged." I asked follow ups with no response.

Everyone, even the reputable guys, are pointing towards this weekend as being some sort of milestone. I know the Celtics are, for the most part, pulling out of Las Vegas today. Not that it changes things, but certainly easier to get stuff done.

I heard from one guy, who isn't exactly a true source, that Ainge, Zarren and Stevens were not going right back to Boston but would be going to LA first. Now that doesn't mean a whole lot because I know for a fact that Doc is in Orlando right now with his family.

My educated guess is that something happens this weekend, but we'll see.

Yup, no pressing need to swing a deal. Unlike Philly, nobody's minutes will be squeezed with Rozier and Brown filling in the Turner gap. As a big who can play all game, Horford solves a lot of issues that came with "which guy will or won't suck tonight?"

Still some shooting/rebounding concerns but if Rozier has figured something out we'll be better off regarding the former than last season. Just subtracting Turner should do wonders for the spacing.

Why would they go to LA if it wasn´t for some sort of paperwork? Can they meet with Griffin when he is under contract with another team?

Yep, they gotta talk to him about extension. That's why Stevens is coming along naturally, and Zarren. Going with any players would arouse suspicion and basically confirm they're going to throw a pitch to Blake
