It's possible that Dawson might be fighting for his life in terms of remaining on the roster right now, maybe he hasn't shown them what they needed in order to stay on.

i can't imagine dawson is gonna stay on the roster, as i think the team was expecting him to show at least some semblance of being an nba player in his second year. that's certainly hard to do without getting real nba game time but that's not happening on this team.

Yea, but I think they were expecting that if he's an NBA calber guy he should be destroying things like summer league and the D-League. It's not like he's a super young, raw 19 year old kid, he's 23 years old. In 29 D-League games he averaged per 36:

17.5 pts / 8.4 rebs / 1.8 ast / 1.9 stl / 1.2 blk / 2.1 tov / .538 TS%

Those are nice NBA numbers, but that's nothing that stands out in the D-League. CJ Wilcox averaged 20/4/3 per 36 on .606 TS% in the D-League. Reggie only played 5 games, so sample size, but he averaged 25/9/3 and .690 TS%, but again it was 5 games, but essentially he just went there and tore it up. Reggie Jackson had a D-League stint, he had 4 games in the two years, he averaged 27/7/8 and .595 TS%.

Robert Covington averaged per 36: 25/10/2 and shot .572 TS% in 42 D-League games back in 13-14.

So yea, I get it, even though his calling card is not offense, but guys who are NBA caliber are usually tearing up the D-League. We'll see, maybe he'll survive though, not sure how, but maybe..

Dawson was always going to be a long shot to stick on the team. Bass signing makes sense as I dont think Brice is ready to play rotation minutes anyway. However, he does offer a completely different type of game than Bass or Speights.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Another solid signing for the minimum. Bass coming in signaled the end for Dawson. This also means that Brice Johnson won't be playing much.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Brice is thin and athletic enough to play some 3. He can even shoot from the perimeter. Hopefully doc finds some playing time for him

I dislike Doc but not as much as the next guy apparently. I consider this a really good move. Not sure why Doc gets bashed for making a good move. I think there is a chance Brice could be the best Clipper reserve big by playoff time. I think he'll be playing if he is. I wasn't comfortable counting on him and now we don't have to. I do wish Doc would hire a proper GM tho. Maybe Frank will solve our problems but smells more like a yes man moved to that role imo. I think it ends badly with Doc no doubt maybe even as soon as next off-season. However I think he had a sneaky good off-season.
