A_dub06 wrote:And which of those guys were ROOKIES when they were MVP of SL? I've repeatedly stated that SL is useful for seeing how the ROOKIES game will translate, not anyone else. I've stated it that many times and yet you continue to show examples of non-rookies and the Josh Smith "beast" stats that you presented were BS. Once again, show me where he dominated and stop providing answers with no basis or relevance to my argument.
Whether they are rookies or not players that do well in the SL doesn't mean they'll do well in the NBA. That is the point. You want to increase your odds by reducing the sample size doesn't change the fact that there is little to any correlation.
"Rash proclamations".... Please state where I have definitively stated Maker WILL become a star, and what is the "rash proclamation" I made specifically? I said he PROJECTS as a face-up 4 that runs the floor, shoots 3's, blocks shots and rebounds. How is any of that not true? I have even stated myself that maker will barely produce in his rookie season so I don't know what you are on about.
Yet you discuss his skillset like he already has one. Furthermore your "projecting" he'll be this type of player when the highest level of competition he's faced is the SL. I Say rash, because you act like he's there already, when he's very much a project.
I'll take Adam Silver's, the 30 NBA owners and the NBA collectives thoughts on SL over every "experienced poster" on this forum combined. If SL was meaningless they wouldn't risk injuring rookies by playing them, nor would there be 3 leagues in different cities.
Okay A_dub06 you win the argument of SL games aren't meaningless, though i don't think anyone ever meant that literally . For instance, SJ uses the SL to develop his weaknesses. ITs the perfect place of mediocre competition to work on this sort of development. As explained earlier , performing well int he SL doesn't mean itll translate to the NBA or even preseason, since this is the highest level of comp Maker has ever faced, i am not naive enough to get excited about doing well against this level of competition. Based on a couple games and a bunch of youtbue highlights. AGAIN, if he produces in Preseason, it might change my opinion. For now he projects to be a project.
Your argument has become a joke. You haven't answered my questions or supported any of your answers with evidence. If it's too hard for you to keep track, these are the questions I want you to answer:
3) What were these "beast" Josh Smith stats you kept referring to?

I'll revise this statement, when Josh Smith played against the Detroit Pistons last year in ORlando , we couldn't stop him. Which reiterates my point about the level of talent playing in the SL. I responded to your the rest of your inquiries in my previous comments.
At this point i am confused as to what we are discussing, i'd still take ellenson easily over maker right now. To me the difference between Makers floor and Ellenson's floor is far greater than Ellenson and Thon's ceiling. At least based on what little we have on Thon. If your opinion is that SL games are so important, then good for you. I just want to point out that there countless players to not even see a NBA minutes but have a amazing summer league.
