The other thing that kills me with laughter is how Pat wanted TJ to back off his word to take a worse deal with us. TJ then says no i gave my word and now Pat praises TJ with his "high morals". Deep down inside we know Pat is pissed about this. Business is business.

Pat Riley didn't want TJ to take a worse deal at all. He wanted TJ to take a deal where the same amount of money is spread more evenly over the course of the 4 years, which would have benefited TJ by getting him more money in years 1 and 2. He praised TJ for sticking with the WORSE deal because he had given his word he would.

Both contracts are for equal money. One contract makes it easy to trade you at a wim, the other contract makes its very difficult to trade. You want to stay in miami. It's crystal clear which deal is best for TJ. Pat praising TJ for sticking with his word is comical sarcasm at its best.

Remember a player can back out of a verbal comment without any repercussion. No fine no penalty nothing. ( If any organization does that it's a death blow). So point blank TJ rejected Pat and his offer because TJ knew it was against his best interests.

My hope is that tj plays up to his contract or plays so well that another team is eager to trade for him even with the contract.
