During a visit to Chicago on Monday, Paul wasn't worried about either topic.

"I wasn't that surprised (about Wade)," Paul said. "You're talking about one of my best friends. I'm just happy for him. Chicago got not only a great player but a great guy. For him to be coming home, you guys got a treat."

Asked whether Wade sought help in making the decision, Paul made it sound like he was involved every step of the way.

"We talk about everything," Paul said. "It doesn't matter if he asks for our advice, me and LeBron (James) are going to give him our opinion all day long."

Paul mentioned he's also good friends with Bulls guard Jimmy Butler but didn't want to take a shot at predicting how the Bulls' new Wade-Butler-Rajon Rondo lineup will fare.

Great question. My guess is it's highly not allowed and not appropriate. I also guess it will be done and ignored by the NBA.

There's probably a way around it such as sending something to Wade's agent and having him relay it. I doubt no President or GM has never contacted in some capacity a player that has left their team.

Tampering is when a player or team directly or indirectly entices, induces or persuades anybody (player, general manager, etc.) who is under contract with another team in order to negotiate for their services. The NBA may impose suspensions and/or fines up to $50,000 if tampering is discovered, however the league's practice has been to wait until a team lodges a complaint before investigating (but that's not to say they don't continue to monitor the league and won't take action independently if they discover that tampering has occurred). Here are some examples:

Definition on Larry Coon's website. Unless Riley is explicitly telling Wade to come back next season, I don't think it'd be considered tampering.

But like others have said. Tampering happens all the time in the NBA. It's a difficult rule to enforce, with lots of gray areas.

It does say directly or indirectly. Riley is laying the groundwork for Wade's return. Then again this is likely to happen with or without this enail. And I think we all agree, NBA won't care.

Directly: "Dwyane, we'd love to bring you back to the Heat next season."
Indirectly: "Dwyane, don't you think you think the weather in Miami is better than the weather in Chicago?"

If Riley simply sends an email saying how much he appreciates Wade and wished things ended differently, then that's probably not going to be considered tampering. These people have known each other for over a decade. I doubt there's any type of rule that would prohibit them from communicating.

I dunno, having to do the presser with the Gar might force him to still try to pull a DJ.

He's gonna rip the contract then and there and shove it down Gar's throat.

He had to have met with him before deciding no?

No, the Bulls strategically had plane trouble and missed the meeting.

Both sides want Wade to come back to Miami. Riley has a bit of fence mending to do. Again I'm not suggesting the NBA will give this a second thought.

Or you are misreading the posts. I wouldn't advise betting the ranch that Wade will never again be employed by the Heat.

Right after his playing days are over. He'll go back sign a one day contract and then take some made upon front office role in Miami.
Losing to get high draft picks and hoping they turn into franchise players is not some next level, genius move. That's what teams want to happen in any rebuild/tank or whatever you want to market it as.

They probably sent someone that wore a Gar mask just to be safe the real Gar wouldn't screw everything up.

So does Wade have an opt out option at the end of 2017? If so does that mean he can resign somewhere else or does it mean the Bulls match him or what?

Why does everyone talk about our spacing being crap? the 1996 to 1998 Bulls really didn't have great spacing as far as shooting with a lineup of Harper, MJ, Scottie, Rodman and Luc

The 96 Bulls shot 40% from 3 as a team. Our current roster might have one 40% shooter on it other than the guy we spent 4 draft picks on specifically because he can shoot and he's tight with our FO.
