ST: Blue Jays @ Diamondbacks | July 19-20

Post#1 » by Rhettmatic » Tue Jul 19, 2016 5:08 pm

Weird little series in a weird little place. As Lucille Bluth once said, I'd rather be dead in California than alive in Arizona.

Game 1 tonight: 9:40 p.m. ET, Sanchez vs. Godly
Game 2: 3:40 p.m. ET, Stroman vs. Corbin

Weird little series indeed: two games in the desert sandwiched between off-days. I guess we wouldn't want the boys to get tired out what with four days off for the all-star break followed by five games in seven days.

On the plus side, this was the perfect time for Estrada to miss time. bluejays.com has him penciled in to start Friday, which would be great news indeed.

Godley is quite the surname. I wonder how he pronounces it.

Should sweep this series, but it's baseball so who knows.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Seriously, whoever designed the Diamondback uniforms needs to be fired.

Matt Devlin is a natural. So is Sanchez. Beast.

Junior Lake is an enigma. He runs fairly well, and his frame should allow him to hit for a good amount of power, but he can't hit consistently and hasn't seemed to put it all together. I dunno.

Whatever, Arizona sucks, let's just get out with a win or two and leave for a while.

I was listening to the Arizona feed but I switched. They're pretty homerish it seemed. Usually I don't mind other teams broadcasts in baseball. Switched to the Jays and thought hot damn is that Devlin? Thanks for confirming. lol

When he's not a ridiculous homer , Devlin is very good.

I'm not opposed to homerism at all, as long As it isn't obnoxious, and I don't find Devlin to be over the top. As far as NBA broadcasters go there are far far worse Homers. Devlin does a good job. He's a little corny with the raps but I think that's what makes him entertaining.

Two wins in a row and 1.5 back in the division and the ridiculous trolls have gone away...for now.

It'll be nice to steal this one tonight, get some rest and get back to some home cooking. Circle your calendars for the series against the O's at the end of the month. That's hopefully when we finally take the division lead.

For sure, though I think Boston will end up being the bigger challenge. I can see Baltimore fading a bit but Boston I think will be there to the end.

I think you are right. They are only .5 games back from first and that is with Price pitching like ****. He'll get better and that new lefty they got should help them out a bit too. Given how tight it is, helping them squeeze out an extra 2-3 wins could get them the pennant.

I think so as well just being optimistic that we will have a shot at it by then.

The Sox are home to the Twins for four and Tigers for three before heading out to LAA for a 4-gamer the same time as our series against the O's. So we definitely have to have a very strong homestand to keep pace. Hoping for at least a 6-3 record.

No worries, they'll be back again as soon as the Jays lose 2 games in a row.

I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.
