You ought to love Jae Crowder. Check out his thoughts on the failed KD pitch:

Crowder was less than pleased with Durant's decision, in no small part because of what the Celtics divulged in their meeting with the former Oklahoma City Thunder forward.

"We were the only team in the NBA to beat both (Cleveland and Golden State) on their home court — the only team in the NBA, the Boston Celtics," Crowder said. "We told him that. We played him clips from both games and told him basically the scouting report of how we guarded Steph (Curry) and Klay (Thompson) — our entire game plan, basically. That's what made me mad. We (expletive) told him everything we do to beat these guys, and we beat them, and he went and joined them. I mean, that's part of the process, but I did not think he would go to those two teams ... I felt like afterward, I was talking to Isaiah, like maybe after you sit back, you shouldn't have told him everything, but who the (expletive) thought he was going to Golden State, realistically? It was like a slap in the face for us, basically."

The Durant thing is frustrating becayde there's almost no way the team wouldn't have been in position to trade blows with Cleveland and golden state - and as mentioned Boston was the only team to beat them both last season. No, it wouldn't be a cake walk but we could of gotten multiple championships.

At the end of the day it probably cake down to what Nike wanted and that was someone to overshadow Curry and UnderArmour. Not sure what more the Celtics could have done.

Jae, like Pierce and other guys I love in Green, plays with a chip on his shoulder. I have no doubt Jae will come into this season with some new skill / ability he didn't fully display last year, because I know he spent the whole offseason just working to get better.

Hopefully that new skill is a consistent J. A consistent J from a consistent Jae. Hey what do ya say?

The least he could do is learn how to not kick his leg out. Refs were killing him on that last year. Had me like :banghead:

although I blame the refs more for that than I do him.

I mean I get why, but that's a pretty stupid idea imo. I wonder what the rest of the non Brady pitch was.

Between this and Iguodala giving the Warriors info while he was playing for Denver, this is starting to be a regular thing.

Isn't the game plan against defending the Warriors basically don't switch cause we have filthy perimeter defenders?

I dont think it was a bad idea. It was important for us to sell the X's and O's and our system to KD..specifically because one of the reasons why he was leaving OKC was because of their quasi ball stopping X's and O's with Westbrook. KD is a basketball first type guy.

What's the downside of it? It's not like this is the NFL where two games against one team could make or break a season and even if a miracle happened in which we find ourselves in the finals against them..our game-plan is going to be significantly different than last year because they now have KD himself. If we just pitched legacy and celebrity without the elite X's and O's that Brad provides then we wouldn't have been a finalist for him. If we were talking about division rivals or top Eastern teams then that might be a tad different but still nominal IMO.

I love that he told KD that we were the only team this year to beat both GSW and Cleveland on the road. Doesn't amount to much in the grand scheme of things but still pretty cool. I love "Angry Jae". That's my most favorite Jae.

Then what? They go and find some minimum veteran versions of Bradley, Smart or Crowder? It's not that simple to create a defense where you have to take care of the ball every possesion, because if you passings slips one bit our guys will punish them. Our perimeter defense is THE BEST in the NBA, you just don't play that type of defense ...

A number of executives believe June will end with a Cavaliers-Warriors “threequel” — except this time the outcome will be reversed.
Eastern Conference executives polled during summer league believe the entire conference is still chasing the Cavs, and the Cavs will be chasing Kevin Durant and the Warriors for the championship.
“We’re all playing for second unless someone [on the Cavs] turns an ankle at the wrong time,” one Eastern Conference executive said.
In fact, it’s hard to pinpoint which team has done the best job of closing the gap on the Cavs in the East. The Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics kept coming up as the two best teams in the East behind the Cavs, although the Indiana Pacers took a number of votes for the team that took the biggest leap — including the vote of Cavs coach Tyronn Lue, who really liked what the Pacers did this summer.

I'm not crazy over the moves Indy made. I think it's a wash at best. Improved their offense, weakened their defense. Knicks and Bulls added flashy names but how that translates to a significant bump in wins remains to be seen. I think the Celtics will miss aspects of Sully and ET's game more than I care to admit. We need marked improvements from the young guys esp. Rozier and Smart and for Brown to make an impact at least on defense initially. Jerebko might also see an elevated role after Sully's departure and while KO recovers from his surgery.

Yeah, I'm thinking they will be about the same or slightly better. George Hill to Teague is a downgrade to me. Mahinmi to Big Al and Thaddeus is probably a slight upgrade. Turner showed enough signs to come back as a genuinely good starter, though.

I think we lucked out that he got left off the all defense squad. More motivation is better.
