I remember that day clear as can be.

Shaq going to Lakers was like double jeopardy to me. I was an NBA fan first and was rooting for the Celtics in the 80s. Man, I hates the Lakers. Then expansion came and I was all about the Magic then.

I really thought we had a dynasty in the making. It was of course spoiled by the free throw choke then the following year by a revitalized Jordan.

I remember watching the Blue Chips movie and it was like Magic fandom heaven. We have a young powerhouse team and our stars are making movies. Turns out that making movies was gonna be one of the reasons our team will be broken up.

Magic fan here since '95 (not because of the final). That was a very sad day... From that point I don't care what Shaq has done for this franchise before, with his leaving he ruined everything. I'll always hate and never forgive him beacause of this move and the way how he did it! Every time I've heard we should retire his jersey I can't stop laughing. That's my opinion and I think I'm not the only one with this! Hoping for a better, a brighter future, we deserve it! GO MAGIC!!!

This how long ago this was that I forgot it happened on my birthday... lol.

I remember my dad telling me that day he was going to play for his Lakers with the biggest grin on his face and my dad asked me would i root for the Lakers as a ten year old boy. at that time i decided to stay loyal and root for the Magic and told him I hate Shaq.

I got into my teen years and said wherever Shaq won titles I am not a fan of those teams. Still to this day i don't like Shaq. the Magic Hall of Fame Honor had me feeling emotional a little bit, but it lasted for a week. screw Shaq.

Even when the Magic went to the finals in 1995, they all said and appeared like they wanted to be here. We could say that each and every summer after a player leaves that the current team all "want to be here."
