I think we are agreeing that Ibaka is actually quite tall at 6'10" w/out shoes.

Who on the radio? I mean if something like that is true we should have just waited for free agency next summer...

.....THANK YOU

I concur with this logic. The only reason I could see otherwise would be to sign him over the cap, but even then, Dipo (and Sabonis) is a steep price to sign him over the cap if he truly wanted to come to ORL anyway. I'm excited to have him on board tho don't get me wrong.

If we waited to sign him next offseason then we would be letting Oladipo walk anyways. So at the end of the day there really isn't a scenario where we have both. Why not get the better fit a year sooner?

Fair points, I'm not really on either side, I'm just here for sake of discussion. By that logic, which I do agree with to an extent, why not trade Oladipo for something else? In the grand scheme of things, one year is not long if you are 100% sure Ibaka is coming here (which is hypothetical of course because there is no way he is 100% sure he is coming here). You get something else of value for Oladipo, and you keep Sabonis to develop/trade for something else.

Eh. May as well get him into our organization now, go for playoffs, get him to buy into our program, and then lock him into a contract.

I also don't buy everything the media say or a radio crew says, so how can we really know he'd come? End of the day, management knows these things more than we do, so I think Hennigans choice to get him now is correct.

Maybe Rob also thought having Ibaka would make BB want to sign here? Probably not, just a thought.

I agree, unless we were sure he'd come, Hennigan made the right move. If we were sure, Hennigan wouldn't have done the deal in the first place imo

And, why is Durant appear taller than Ibaka in pictures. That would make Durant like 7' in shoes.

They look identical to me. Durant has admitted to being 6'11 instead of his listed 6'9. I would say Serge is around 6'11 (in shoes).

The original discussion, was "Is Ibaka a lot smaller than 6' 10"." No he is not. He is tall. He is taller than Dwight Howard.

He looks to have good height. He and Durant are very close. Durant could have a hair on him. Clearly shorter than 7 foot compared to Mcgee and Adams, but not too much shorter. 6'10.75 or 6'11 imo.

I cant post Youtube videos from work but maybe someone else ca. Search for Serge Ibaka - King Kong IBLOCKA, look at the 0:19 mark and tell me he's not taller than Durant. Plus its a good video. I cant see their feet in that team picture. Maybe Durant grew.

I had to give ya a +1 for that, I did not see that video until you posted it!! Thanks!! I also went back to the Serge intro presser and heard Vogel say (basically) a lot of the offensive concerns will be answered by our Defense....which will be just nasty with these guys!!! Can't wait!!!! Let's Go!!! 8-) 8-)

Having a lazy morning.... so decided to look at some highlights of Serge on the offensive and defensive end over the last few years! I think his defensive contribution to the team is overshadowing what he might be trying to bring to us on the offensive end. He is going to be a great cog in our offensive scheme.

Good job on the videos!

I don't know if I am more anxious to see Serge just be Serge here in OTown or that his performance should be increased bcause he is in a contract year and has to make his mark in the east now!!! Add to that, in the videos....Serge makes the best bigs in the game change their plans when he is in the paint...plus the gaurds all try to find him and still get their shots blocked by AIR CONGO!!! I am loving it!!!
