Bad comp.

Greg Monroe was better in his rookie season than Okafor was in his rookie season also. But that's not the point. The point is no-defense Centers are NOT valuable. If we lose Embiid to injury, Okafor is not an adequate replacement and whatever he provides can be easily replicated by Greg Monroe (available for free) Nik Vucevic (likely available) or Enes Kanter (easily obtainable).

Or you can actually trade Andrew Bogut for nothing.

You really think WS is the best stat for judging someone on the Sixers?

Lloyd, you are to Okafor what NYSixersFan is to Hinkie. Fact.
“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

Here's an alternative.

I think if multiple advanced stats suggest that Monroe was WAY better than Okafor as a rookie, then it's not unreasonable to say that Monroe was at least a little bit better than Okafor as a rookie.

The stat just shows that your "insurance" Nerlens Noel got outplayed by some "offensive center" ( Monroe , Lopez and eh… Kaminsky…) who you think has less value.

Don't think its unreasonable either just hate using WS to evaluate players on a 10 win team. Does anyone know where you can find BPM by month? I'm interested to see if there was any progression for Okafor as the season went on/Ish returned.

Yeah, I'm interested in seeing what Okafor can do with a more talented team around him. It's just going to be very difficult to make the minutes work. Unless of course we trade Noel...

Agree 100%. I consider myself to be one of the (seemingly few) people in the middle ground that think Okafor was bad last year but still have a lot of hope for him.

I figured it would. I've previously said that you were one of my favorite posters here and I definitely respect your basketball knowledge/analysis. I just wish it was your pre-Okafor pick persona.

Lloyd, you have been preaching the same narrative on Okafor for a year. Your position is clear but I'm sure you will drag it's rotting corpse out and beat it again before this thread has five more pages added to it.

"Okafor doesn't rebound or defend the rim. History shows that these traits are rarely improved upon. These are the two skills that matter at center in the NBA -- Okafor sucks and always will regardless of his team mates, coaching or system." -- LloydFree loop.

Greg Monroe averaged 9 and 7 his rookie year in 28 MPG.

Naaa. Whatever persona I had before Okafor is the same now. You just don't agree with me now as much as you may have agreed with me in the past. You are a different kind of fan than me, that's all. I'm critical of MY teams players as well as other team's players. I think you take it personally when someone says something negative about a player on the team. I'm now a bad and obnoxious fan because I'm critical of Okafor and won't let up.

I get it. This is a community board and you open yourself up to attacks if you are antagonistic to the common thought. I get it and I'm fine with it. Just don't name call without substance. Tell me why I'm wrong about Okafor without saying your "Donald Trump" or "he's only 19". That don't mean shi...

Yes. Remove the "Okafor sucks" part and add Okafor will make similar impact as Brook Lopez or Enes Kanter. :D
