The NBA is actually the intolerant one. They should be tolerant with the current law in NC instead of needing to push their own agenda and use their product as black mail.
And to use the word phobia would be incorrect I don't think anybody is scared of homosexuals.
I wasn't aware that the NBA had a preferred color of postage, but thank you for that fun piece of trivia...
Jokes aside, clearly we disagree here so tell me why the league should work in an area with laws that potentially limit their marketability? Forget politics. Tell me how that makes sense from a business point of view.
I really don't care about the NBA moving the all star game , unless it comes to Orlando , but I really doubt it would really affect the marketability of the NBA , the average fan and and average person doesn't really care about the law or really even knows what it is about . If they had the game there maybe some people would have some type of "outrage"on social media but in the big scheme
Of things it wouldn't be that big of a deal .
i gotta think that not moving the game would've been a big deal for their media partners.
then there's the matter of media coverage from other media outlets, especially with this being an election year and lgbt rights looking to be on the assigned short list of hot button issues.
all of the risks and none of the rewards were on the side of keeping the game in charlotte.
If it really would effect their marketability , then how come they are still putting 100s of million dollars into China that has much harder laws against the lgbt community not to mention human rights issues ? Idk why they moved it but if they didn't , can one honestly say that their bottom line would be effected ?!
yeah, if you really want to talk about something the average person doesn't care about, bring up human rights abuses in countries on the other side of the planet.
sadly, that sort of thing doesn't motivate (too many) activists in this country or boost tv ratings and internet clicks. if i had to guess, i'd say that's why the nba can pump as much money as they want into china without having to worry about taking a p.r. hit.
