So if someone posts a rumor, I can only comment when I believe the rumor is true, but not when I don't think it is-- or in this case when I think it is so vague as to be virtually meaningless?

Why would you respond to something you thought was meaningless?

He is best when allowed to do whatever the hell he wants, which goes against everything we have going on.

Westbrook '16 is not Westbrook '11. 12 freaking assists per 36. He's a death star of offense these days.

Somtimes it's useful to point out that the emperor isn't wearing an clothes.

Once again, I'm not directing criticism at Smitty, even though he thinks I am. He's reporting what he's been told. My problem is with what he's been told, which contains zero specifics as to what the Celtics might actually do.

Maybe the answer is that if his sources have told him absolutely nothing that is concrete, he ought not to post it.

Isn't Paul Pierce past the point where he can start? At 39 the question is whether he can even be a serious rotation guy on a winning team. He seems to be more a fringe rotation guy based on last season and the ravages of aging.

Maybe it's useful sometimes, now isn't one of those times.

Your last statement is asinine. Only an idiot takes rumors from anyone, even Woj, as bond. There aren't many idiots here, and the ones here don't need your "protection".

But doing this ad nauseam, why? You are like a broken record...over and over. Let it go...move on with your life. Go post on a board where you don't have to deal with this. You are like an idiot walking head first into a wall over and over repeating the same **** over and over.

Just ignore Curm, guys. I don't wanna see this thread derailed and locked. Believe it or not but Smittys rumors and posts brings lots of chatter to the board in the dog days of summer.

1. "Brown has NOT signed yet. Why not do that today when you used the rest of your cap space to re-sign Zeller and sign Green?"

2. "LAC is keeping that 15th roster spot open for a reason. And it isn't because of the looming hard cap for them. They want roster flexibility. Why do they need flexibility when they have no cap space and are close to the hard cap? Because of a potential trade."

Smitty, about that deal A you mentioned in the first page, any chance that if Ainge manages to pull that off, he'd be willing to put both BKN picks on the table for Westbrook? I really feel Presti's asking price for Westbrook is too much, and if Ainge is being pressured by Wyc then it's probably a combination of Brown + 1 BKN pick or 2 BKN picks that gets the Westbrook deal done? I'm just assuming as much since I don't see Brown's name being mentioned in the Griffin rumors so he's probably headed to OKC if he's being shipped out.

Yes please can we collectively just ignore the people who don't understand what a rumor is? I promise they will stop posting if we ignore them. #foe

Thanks for the update Smitty -- wife and kids are out of town and I'm enjoying the speculative possibilities (with some booze)!

You can report this if you want, I don't really care. But is there a reason you have to be such a dick in every single thread? All you post is dumping on anything and everything. You walk the line so you don't get reported, but I can tell you that every Mod on the site (and a good deal of other posters) is tired of it.

I'm not saying you need to be positive, but why be a jerk in every thread? There is literally no reason for it. If you don't like what is posted, don't post. You must have missed the golden rule of "If you don't have anything nice to say...". I realize I'm violating it myself by responding, but I've had enough.

Again, please report the post if you want. Go to Howard if you want. I don't care at this point. I'm just tired of your act and dumping on everything. And yes I mean everything.

Smitty, I think it's high time you "Add foe" certain posters to make your life less stressful.

It's a discussion board, a rumor board a bitching and whining board, a rooting board. It's a congregation. Your allowed to bitch and whine and I won't stop you cause it's your right. He's allowed to post rumors. and you don't have the right or authority to stop him from doing so just as much as we can't stop your whining and bitching. Your well within your right.

He can post all the rumors he wants. But then he has to deal with skeptics like me until one of the rumors turns out to be true.

I feel the same way about shining knights of the twitterverse who post the same sort of thing. Just because it''s on twitter doesn't make it credible.

Do NOT underestimate this part at all. The ownership group wants to win and they want to win NOW. They were impatient with the 1 year the team was out of the playoffs.

I assumed as much (I think Wyc was a minor influence on the IT trade, Danny not being able to pass that up the main influence), and have said so for years on here only to be ridiculed with platitudes of "Wyc is awesome".

Not that you were saying otherwise, but it's good to hear confirmation of my suspicions that our ownership is all about winning now.

And although I say this as a criticism, there are reasons it does make sense: Brad possibly leaving sooner than we think being the most important one (imo).

15th always said the same FWIW.

I just want to hit on this last part:

The Celtics are in constant fear that Stevens will leave. And not for another NBA job. A ton of people, and I mean a TON, believe that he still wants to be in college. Many have gone as far to say "He's gone the minute he wins an NBA title.".

A lot of people think Stevens is the guy that Coach K has already identified to leave him when he leaves Duke. Stevens still makes a point to be around the college game a lot and supposedly keeps tabs on everything that is happening in the college game, which is odd for an NBA coach who doesn't have personnel authority.

I personally think he's in Boston until they at least get a title. And then winning a title makes it hard for a lot of guys to leave. But continuing to be as competitive as possible is a factor. The Celtics (and I agree) think they have the best coach in the league that isn't Pop. They will do just about anything to keep him happy.

Why don't we just sign a bunch of 18 year olds then and give him a college team.. in the NBA?

For the killjoy Smitty naysayers who intentionally or unintentionally derail the thread: we get it. You don't like seeing rumors from insiders for whatever reason. To you it's "thanks, but no thanks". That's all fine and dandy. But please, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF. This is a public forum. Information here is being shared and they're not exclusively for your own satisfaction. Other members appreciate these type of information so don't be a dick and ruin the fun for everyone else.
