2016 Training Camp Thread

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Mon Jul 25, 2016 12:34 pm

Players report today. I hate having 5 preseason games. Anxious to see Jordy on the field. I would imagine he will play VERY little in the preseason but he needs to get on the field and take a couple of hits anyway. Anxious to see if Cobb and Adams still suck or if they bounce back. Anxious to see Cook. Anxious to see Lacy. Anxious to see Clark, we need him to at least be a contributor this year on the DL. Anxious to see Spriggs. We have some big decisions to make on the OL after the season. How well Spriggs looks (and Murphy) will factor into those decisions. Anxious to see our new LB's Martinez and Fackrell look.

The important thing is to stay healthy.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

5 PS games is bull crap I agree.

Seriously I would be tempted to hold out the top 30 or 40 of the team and play the bottom 40-50 of the roster for 2 out of 5 games. It's crap to subject them to that many games and I'd prefer if the top 3rd of our roster was not exposed.

We are playing 16 games plus almost always 1 post season game sometimes 2. That's 18 games already.

5 pre-season games if the starters played 8 quarters out of 20 quarters that is still 2 full games extra! Meaning it is a 20 game season before they even get to the 2 most important games!

That's way too much.

Game 1 skip
Game 2 1st quarter and half 2nd quarter
Game 3 1st quarter and half 2nd quarter
Game 4 first half
Game 5 3 quarters.

(this is conservative, some online guys or other positions will play 10 to 12 quarters. Adding 3 games to their season toll. That's 21 games, no wonder some rookies hit a wall. Their almost double the amount of games from college).

Even if they cut it down a couple quarters it will still be like playing 1 to 1.5 extra games tacked on to the regular season. Without the bye the team goes through 18 to 19 games to reach the divisional round. That is too much.

Football is part Russian Roulette with injuries, a long pre-season just adds to injury risk and is a load of crap.

IMO it should be 2 to 3 games that's it. If the problem is that's not enough evaluation time for young or bubble players they can do a small version of the NBA summer league with only young players and bubble players. But starters should not be at such big risks. If talent evaluation is not a big issue then keep it 2 or 3 games and that's it.

It's possible some poor Shlub could end up playing a 25 game season. How messed up is that?

There is a glimmer of hope with Manning being exonerated, and Neal doesn't play for the Pack anymore.

Not shocked nelson and cook will start on the pup. Montgomery and lindsey being on there is a bit concerning.

Montgomery's ankle must have been bad. Good that we have depth at OL and WR. If Lang or Linsley aren't ready during the preseason, they could play Walker or Taylor at G and Tretter at C to start the year.

As long as it's in the beginning of the season, I don't care much. Keeps them fresh at the end of the year and we should be able to win some early ones without them.

There's no rush to get these guys back on the field. Rodgers, Nelson, and Cook need a little timing coordination but that's about it. Montgomery needs to get right since he's in a fight with Abby and Janis.

If I had the option of banging a super model or punching Mike McCarthy in the face,I'd have to think about it.....lol.

Foot injuries always concern me, Cook needs to be out there asap and get his timing down with the offense/Rodgers. Montgomery's injury lingering into the preseason is also a concern.

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/roster-prediction-breaking-down-packers-53-b99767894z1-388208512.html

Roster predictions by Ryan Wood. Now that Gannett (USA Today) owns the JS they are combining Packers coverage so we'll see some new USA Today writers covering the Pack as well as GB Press Gazette guys (also owned by Gannet)

I am really anxious to see Hundley play. Hopefully he balls out leading to a trade next offseason.

How about punching a super model in the face and banging McCarthy?

Hope he keeps it up. A guy with his speed would be such a nice addition to the wr rotation.
