Dickey is most definitely mediocre but mediocre is still several rungs ahead of Hutch. 2 bad starts and people forget that he posted an ERA of barely over 3.00 for May 1st to the Allstar break.
Dickey is inconsistent.
I was one who didn't mind the trade at the time. Prospects for a Cy young winner (an aging one at that.) why not?? but most us will admit by now it was a bad trade.
Most middling pitchers are inconsistent. If you're constantly good, you're a star. If you're consistently bad then you're unemployed. People searching for a roster full of consistent players should probably stop watching MLB.
