McGee waived by the Mavs, but they kept Pierre.

There are few people in this world more stupid than Nick Young. Gilbert Arenas is one of them.

At least Gil can form a sentence. Not trying to hate on nick too much, I know he must have some sort of disability, but I honestly couldn't make out a single word he said

Nah. Jordan -- who I thought at the time was clearly a better prospect than JaVale -- was picked at #35.

Other Centers taken in the 17 picks between McGee and Jordan were: J.J. Hickson (#19), Alexis Ajinca (#20), Kosta Koufos (#23), Serge Ibaka (#24), and Nikola Pekovic (#31). Omer Asik went #36 -- the pick after Jordan. Every one of the 6 taken after JaVale had a much better NBA career than he.

Inasmuch as Brook Lopez, Robin Lopez and Roy Hibbert went earlier in R1, it was a heck of a draft for Centers. And every GM who picked one of them did pretty well. Except one GM, that is.

Unfortunately, he hadn't had a good draft the year before either (Nick Young), or the year before that (Pecherov). His 2005 R1 pick he'd traded away. Ditto his 2004 R1 pick.

Fortunately, he made up for all that in the 2009 draft when he was able to trade our #1 pick (Steph Curry???) for a couple of guys who really helped build the Wizards squad -- Randy Foye and Mike Miller.

Dang! Thanks PIF for the historical correction, you can see why Ernie prefers to toss his draft pics, he does it as an act of political survival.

The GRJR story isn't turning out so well. :-?

http://www.tmz.com/2016/07/25/glen-rice-jr-arrested-robbery-battery/

More trouble for ex-NBA player Glen Rice Jr. -- the 25-year-old was arrested for robbery Monday morning in Georgia ... less than a year after he was shot in a bizarre gunfight at T.I.'s restaurant.
Here's what we know ... Rice was booked at 6:37 AM this morning for felony robbery, aggravated battery and possession of marijuana. He has since been released from custody.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

Look I am all for kicking EG in the balls but we have been over and over and over and over and over and over and over who Eg could have picked in past years. Is it not time to stop beating the dead horse.

Is McGee done? If they can get him at vet min, why not add a fifth C?

Ernie could go HAM on centers.

Could probably one up Pam McGee, too, by owning rights to Pierre.

I've got no problems with the GRJR pick. It was a high risk high reward gamble. That's the kind of thing you do late in the 2nd round. It didn't work out. We cut bait. It happens. I'd like to see EG have more hits and fewer misses in the 2nd round, but at least that one had the potential to be a hit. It was no Arsalan Kazemi or Vladimir Veremeenko.

It was actually trading the 38th and 54th picks for the 35th pick, but I don't really mind it either, and it showed prudence to cut bait so early on the investment. I wish the Wizards showed more of that in the 2nd round, taking risks, consolidating assets, sifting for useful players, rather than just selling them or giving them away. Maybe they'll finally have a 2nd round hit in Satoransky.

Hey, don't sleep on Arsalan Kazemi! Oh, ok... go ahead and sleep on the guy. He led the NCAA in rebounding if I remember right. I was hoping he'd at least have a cup of coffee in the league -- he'd have been the second Iranian to play in the NBA.

One thing tho, Nate -- GRJR wasn't picked "late in the 2d round," he was picked early in the second round -- #35. CCJ and I liked Wolters, and at least he hasn't been arrested lately!

I think Ruzious was touting Withey, and it's interesting to note that the guys picked after GRJR who are still in the league and doing well are mostly bigs: Withey, Muscala, Kelly, & Lauvergne. There is after all a continuing "shortage of tallness."

Otherwise, only Ennis and McCallum are still around, and those 2 are holding on by the skin of their teeth!

Look like Tyronn Lue is going to get paid more as a coach than he did as a player. Wow...who would have thought the little yella midget with cornrows would become a highly respected coach.

Good for him. I liked him as a player, lacking exceptional talent and getting by on smarts and determination. Lue probably said, "I want what Brooks got. I won a championship."

Nate, the Wizards would have been much better off with Wolters and Kazemi.

Rice Jr was a daddy-hating, wannabe thug who got kicked off GA Tech. They discharged a firearm from his car prior to the draft...

Typical EG low character pick, traded two HARD WORKING players for a very talented douche.
