We already have TJ/Rich here, they already showed they're better then him. Yet we brought Waiters in and OKC dumped him.

Yup, and he had "good" postseason, by the way :lol:

If Justise plays PF, JRich Sf, and TJ Pg he doesn't take minutes from anyone. Lol

It's theoretically possible.

Sure. You can play every promising young player on the team out of their natural position, damage their long term development, and all in order to accommodate Dion "bust" Waiters. Who will leave if he plays well, and stay if he sucks (player option next year).

Great plan.

I doubt waiters takes time from Jrich, Winslow and TJ. They'll still probably play more minutes. If Waiters ends up being good for us then what would be the problem? There's no risk to this signing. 2 years of Dion Waiters isn't going to kill anyone's career.

Predict the minutes Spo will give these players (averages per game) :

Dragic =
Waiters =
Ellington =
TJ =
Rich =
Justise =
Weber =

Show how Waiters doesn't hurt our own young core.

Idk what direction this team is going but I will say I don't like it ONE bit.

Waiters? If there was 1 guy I hated more than Derozan it was this Waiters scrub. And we signed him, I would of gave up my fandom if the Heat signed Derozan to the max. Now I have to deal with this chucking garbage player. Thank god it's only 3mil per but still. I will likely have to change the channel each time he steps on the court, so thanks for that Riley.

You know last year I said we had some "dead weight" we needed to shed. (Haslem, Mcscrub, Green, Amare) and instead we just added more dead weight, lost Franchise player and have no direction with no picks. Riley in my book has lost "it". And it's time to step the hell down. I would be more comfortable with Spo getting a Coach/GM position like Doc than continue to see Riley get older and senile.
And you guys know I don't even like Spo. But enough is enough.

Riley I don't give ANY credit for the Big 3. That was all Wade Lebron Bosh forming great friendships and colluding to team up. Wade gave Riley the heads up and Riley takes the credit.

Once Lebron left Riley has been left in shell shock. Desperately trying to keep us afloat. Making panic moves left and right. It's over, Riley is done. He is not fixing things they are actually getting Worse, MUCH worse.

In the span of a year or two. We have lost any semblance of that "Family" crap this team kept pushing. All this "heat lifer" crap was a load of sh*t. But don't let that stop you guys from fantasizing about all these "stars" like Blake and Westbrook and PG13 coming here.

Newsflash look at the Bulls. They had the GOAT. And haven't had another real star ever since. And I have a feeling we are going in a VERY similar direction

I guess those teams aren't tanking. Didn't offer him anything.

Think about that - OKC are trying to win this year, they can't replace Waiters, yet they still preferred to let him walk for nothing.

From what I read, and it could be wrong, multiple teams wanted to offer Waiters multi year 10+ mill a year offers, but they thought OKC was going to match, so they went ahead and pursued their plan A scenerios. Brooklyn and Philly seem like teams that wouldve thrown him more than 3 mill a year. Idk what happened there. Maybe something interesting will come out about that.

Wasn't the assumption going into the off season about Waiters was that he priced himself out of OKC? Funny how things wound up.

I am not disputing your point since I do see some minutes taken from our youth, but I do not think it is as bad as some think it's going to be. Here is a simple breakdown on how I see this playing out.

Dragic = 32mpg
Waiters = 25mpg
Ellington = Situational
TJ = 24mpg
Rich = 15mpg split time at SG/SF (15mpg more)
Justise = Not playing guard but getting 32mpg as a forward
Weber = Situational

At the end, Waiters might end up being part of the youth movement/development or he could be an attractive name for a bigger trade this February along with Ellington's contract, Williams and J. Johnson. This is a transitional roster. Riley has done this before to gather assets in case something becomes available. We added Dragic that way a couple of years ago.

The bottom line is that our young players are still getting significant minutes.

To have a GOAT like player you have to loose badly to make that gamble.... Cleveland was the epitome of losing....Philly has been gambling for the last 4 years, Lakers are doing the same. Chicago has stayed competitive and so has Miami.... I rather stay competitive than tank 4-6 years hoping for a Lebron/kobe/Durant/Jordan player

If your breakdown comes true it means that :

1.We gave Ellington 6 mil a year to never play.

2. Weber won't even get scrap minutes to develop.

3.Rich Development will be killed, you're suggesting we'll actually cut down his minutes from his Rookie season. I find that to be shockingly horrible given what he showed.

4. TJ doesn't get a bigger role at all, despite getting 50 Mil 4 year deal you're still slotting him in as a marginal player.

All of this for the sole purpose of renting the services of Dion Waiters for 1 year, and then watching him becoming a UFA next summer (or opting in if he sucks).

I can't stress enough how horrible of a move this is if your breakdown is correct.

The reason why I am not tripping off the money they gave these players is that what else were we going to do with it.... after Wade was gone we would looked stupid to just have salary cap and no players... all are one year deals with an option next year

I love the Waiters signing...maybe he becomes part of our core....maybe hes nice trade bait come February...maybe he has a forgettable one year with the Heat...well worth any risk for the room exception.

Waiters signing is a no lose situation for us and I believe he will be worth his 2.9m exemption contract.

In regards to the Minutes Per Game talks, JRich will see more court time than TJ. Book it!

Spo going to get bombarded with rotation questions come training camp. Maybe we're going to play 7 seconds or less basketball and we'll need the fresh bodies to run? :dontknow:

waiters and ellington are nice, but neither should be getting in the way of jrich and TJ getting the majority of guard minutes.

waiters seems like a guy who needs a well defined roll off the bench. would play him as 6th man sf/sg

ellington seems situational, if his 3pt shot is off he isnt giving much else.

james jonhnson seems situational 3/4

williams is a 4.

We added Dragic by trading away two 1st round picks. We don't have any picks to trade.
