The 96 Bulls shot 40% from 3 as a team. Our current roster might have one 40% shooter on it other than the guy we spent 4 draft picks on specifically because he can shoot and he's tight with our FO.

We shot only 32% from 3 point range in 1998 and got the best record and won the title. Our team last year shot 37% from 3 and in 2015 35%

Don't forget that the line was moved closer in '96 and then moved back by '98, which makes a pretty big difference in terms of artificially inflating how good the Bulls were from 3 in '96.

There's no point in comparing the value of the three-point shot today versus 18 years ago. The league average for made threes in 1998 was 360; last season it was 698. Plus, you're talking about a team with Michael **** Jordan on it.

Perimeter shooting is no more a question this upcoming season, than it has been the last six years. It's odd that we're talking about it like it's some new wrinkle:

2016: League Average - 698 (High: 1077, Bulls: 651)
2015: League Average - 643 (High: 943, Bulls: 645)
2014: League Average - 635 (High: 779, Bulls: 508)
2013: League Average - 587 (High: 891, Bulls: 446)
2012: League Average - 423 (High: 670, Bulls: 419)
2011: League Average - 530 (High: 770, Bulls: 511)

The last time the Bulls made more threes well-above the league average was 2006. They made 560 threes that seaason, which was 6th in the NBA. So, in the past 10 years, the Bulls have only had two teams that made more threes than the league average.

Overall, I don't think the three-point shot will be the death of this team.

Comparing the 96-98 Bulls to the current group, in any way, is just…um…unfortunate.
