Two players with similar stories. Maybe change of scenery will help both.

Benoit marginally better than Storen this year. This is Storen's corpse for Benoit's corpse and a nice casket (grim metaphor, sorry).

Are they going to DFA Carrera then for Benoit for the O's series?

They can just send Tepera back down, can't they? Or is there a certain number of days before they can do that? I think there is...either way, don't think Carrera has much value to the team anymore.

Or maybe another trade in the works?!

Hopefully the move will help revitalise Benoit like it's done with Grilli. Storen was giving us nothing

I'm 99% sure they just sent Tepera down to make room for Upton. As solid as Carrera has been, DFA'ing him is the most logical solution.

It says we sent the cash, not the Mariners. The Seattle beat guy says the cash we sent offsets the difference between Benoit and Storen.

At this point, Joaquin can't be worse than Drew, gotta hope he is revitalized.

Sure, why not. Benoit is in one hell of a meltdown -- nine walks in his last 6.2 IP makes Steve Delabar look like Greg Maddux -- but his control has always been pretty good, and his stuff is still mostly there.

Given that Storen is a free agent at year's end, I'm not sure what Seattle gets out of this. Even if he regains his stuff, he isn't an asset beyond this season.

There's a 10 year age difference between the two, and Storen has the better track record. I guess none of that matters since both expire at the end of year - it's about who they think can help the most over the next three months. It's worth a shot, I guess, but my expectations for Benoit are very low.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

this trade's similar to what one woman said to her friend at an orgy:

"I'll trade you one stiff for another."

OK then.

Anyone know what the deal is with Morales?

I was looking at the 40/25 rosters to see where things were after these moves and was surprised to see that Franklin Morales was activated on 22 July. He's not with the club is he?

EDIT: Nevermind I missed the game that he pitched in on the weekend. So I guess he's with the club.

Eh. Can't be much worse than Storen and even if he is we really didn't give anything up.
