The funniest justification for the Waiters deal is "he's giving us a connection to Westbrook".
Righttttttttt. Westbrook loved him so much that OKC let Waiters walk for nothing, replacing him with a 22YO Spanish rook despite being in full win now mode.
It's whatever, If Waiters gets big minutes, people will probably hate on him regardless of what anyone sais. His game will do the talking. If he can muster a strong season, he's gone next season chasing the big$$$.
I swear I'm not sure if we're trying for the playoffs or secretly tanking. Some of our moves can be viewed as pure tank attempts.
I'll root for every player in a Heat jersey including Waiters, but this offseason as been bizarre to say the least.

They're playing the trade deadline lotto, everything else conditional. Not particularly mad about that... Yet.

Of course not.
It could be. Westbrook will decide where he goes because he's a free agent at the end of the year if he wants to be. If he wants to come to Miami, it could get done today.

With STAT retiring it got me looking back at the 2004 -05 Suns and was just amazed how much that team is like next years Heat. If the Heat unleash Goran he can have the same transformation Nash did playing in that attacking system. Whiteside is as effective as STAT was attacking the rim on the pick and role and is a significantly better defender. Josh Richardson can provide the shooting that Joe Johnson did and is already a better defender. Waiters is Quentin Richardson for good and bad ( waiters may be a better shooter but both are streaky). TJ should be able to play the Barbosa role of an attacking scorer. The issue is finding some one to be Marion while Winslow can provide the defense the question is if he can provide the shooting. Of course if Bosh is back then we will be even better at PF but I think a combination of Babbit, Johnson and Williams will be sufficient. So I think Spo should be studying that team and Dragic and Whitehouse should be studying how STAT and Nash played together.

Don't think we'd trade for any rentals that don't commit long term, verbally

^Hassan will never be scorer prime Amare was.
Amare was a offensive beast, unstoppable in that Suns offense. Killer mid range jumper, elite finisher, ran the floor.
Hassan isn't as quick or explosive, but I do think his offensive should grow (at least try to) this year. He's elite around the rim, and can kinda hit that short jumper, but we'll see how reliable it can be.
That is if Waiters allows him to shoot from time to time.

I don't even understand all this "big whale trade" talk.
Blake and Westbrook are free agents next year, trading for them now is beyond stupid.
Who exactly are those whales worth trading away TJ/Rich/Justise?

Rex Blake and Westbrook will want that 5 year more than anything. There game is based on athletic ability and they both have had injuries in the past. If you dont trade for them there is no way you get them to sign. Yes they may visit us get a free steak meal like Aldridge did and then sign else where.
With that said i dont see how Blake comes here especially with Chris talking to him about how Pat treated Wade and Lebron. So that bridge is burned. Westbrook has no connection to us at all so unless we are trading for him we have no shot.

Maybe they think it's easier to acquire them that way, paid off with Goran(being able to offer him much more), but you never know what the assets are worth. Expiree's and rookie contracts are like gold to liquid money (theoretically) when it comes to assets (Compared to picks). I'm not mad at the FO if it goes down that way, at least they have a direction. Committing to tanking with their monetary investment is just nonsensical

I covered Waiters in Cleveland for half of the 2014-15 season before he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Cavaliers teammates privately cheered the trade, calling it “addition by subtraction,” so much so that J.R. Smith was considered a more reliable option. You thought Mario Chalmers had irrational confidence? Wait until you experience Waiters. He told Syracuse teammates to call him “Kobe Wade,” declared himself part of the best backcourt in the NBA while coming off a 33-win season, and called for the ball incessantly, unsuccessfully and comically while playing with the Cavaliers’ Big 3.

Mion and Myrie was a very fun time/ start to '14 season lol
Hopefully he's to come off the bench, only real worry I have is if he begins to squabble about minutes... That could end badly

Dragic wasn't committed long term when we traded for him. Pat would easily take the chance on a Westbrook rental.

If Stokes is still around after Feb. (Not likely), would love to see a reunion. I expect Spurs to have him locked
