The Foles release is a big blow to Fitzpatricks leverage in my opinion. Foles is pretty similar in style and he is younger and probably more hungry to re-prove himself.

I like Fitzpatrick, and aside from the games against the Bills, thought he did a great job guiding this team into a 10 win season, but I think, outside TE, he was our worst offensive player last year when compared to the rest of the league. His talent is replaceable but his leadership and demeanor are not. He really fit into this system and team-makeup but something has got to give.
Go Knicks!

Well.. that's over... Fitz 1 year 12 million..

Not overly excited with it to be honest. I still believe Fitz either gets injured or loses his job by week 5.

It's over. $12 million/1 year

I like Fitz and it's a year. Can't hate the signing, but Jets now have 4 QBs on the roster.

I hate it. Fitz is going to get overmatched against our brutal schedule. Fully guaranteed 12 million is ridiculous. He's been banged up his entire career. I don't like this at all.

Another factor here is that the current jets hierarchy didn't draft Geno. They have zero attachment to him.

Whatever.
He's going to be average or suck this year & everyone will realize again why he was journeyman. Then people can make fun of the Jets & all will be right in the NFL world again. Smh
Too bad we can't give Geno another shot. He's young enough to go to a team & compete 1 last time for starting spot.

My only hope is that Hackenberg gets it by next season

I've never been a believer in Geno and neither Petty or Hack are ready. I believe he's our best chance of the 4 and the receivers thinks very highly of him. And if we can't win with Fitz (which is likely considering the schedule), he's off the books next offseason.

I would go Foles. He has shown that he could win with a good supporting cast. Fitz like

Edit:nvm. Yay, Fitz

Would've liked to see what Geno could've done with weapons, but the fit for Fitz is there. His chemistry with the WR's and familiarity with the system is to strong to ignore. Hopefully there is a legitimate competition for the job this offseason because Geno was beating him according to the reports last year. Either way it's obvious that the Jets experiment with Hackenberg is in full force now.

He's going to be the highest paid backup in the NFL. He couldn't beat Geno for the job last year. If Geno doesn't pick a fight with a linebacker he's the starter.

It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth that a guy who has accomplished nothing in his career finally had a good statistical year with a franchise that embraced him and gave him weapons would drag something like this out to the extent he did. It especially galls me that he did this after his god awful play in crunch time kept us out of the playoffs. I just don't like that at all. He should have signed 2 months ago and been preparing with his teammates rather than acting like a prima donna. I also fully expect him to revert and be benched.

Fitz is back, I ain't mad.

He performs well we go through it again next season.

He performs like sh*t then deuces.

I'll never understand the maybe Geno should get a second chance talk after watching his father Sanchez screw us over year after year. Geno sucks, he does nothing well, we honestly are only keeping Fitz & Geno until we get a good QB.

It's only one yr. worst case scenario, we have a high draft pick, we let him go, and geno starts by week 5. Best case scenario we get in to the playoffs at 9-7/10-6 with this brutal schedule.

There's no competition. If Fitz is really as bad as you guys make him out to be, Geno will start by week 5.

You have to be fair enough to acknowledge that both Sanchez and Geno were thrown in at the deep end before they were ready which is the organization's fault. In the case of Sanchez, after his second season the talent on the offensive side of the ball got worse and worse. That doesn't absolve him of his ball security issues but he was not put in a position to succeed by an inept front office and coaching staff. In Geno's case he has never had any weapons and was also thrown into the deep end too soon. Again he has some faults that can't be absolved but you can't just ignore the fact that the front office and coaching staff did him absolutely no favors with the talent level around him and playing him without letting him learn the ropes first. Those 2 guys may not be great but both had enough talent that other organizations would have gotten more out of them.

It could be worse. The Jets are like the Knicks. They clearly are trying to win and not rebuild. If so, the Fitzpatrick is a better option than hoping Geno Smith shows up.

The only thing that is keeping me sane is that it's only for 1 year. This whole circus was so ass backwards for a guy who has sucked his entire career, has never won anything of note and choked the biggest game of his career last year and cost us a playoff spot. People riding on Geno too hard don't know what they're talking about. Slim to none Quarterbacks would have been successful in the situation he was tossed in and now we have to watch Fitz almost blow games on his lonesome at 34 years old because we committed so much money to him and our idiot coach went in the media and declared him the starter right after the season.
