Most likely. Depends on who gets moved and how much money comes back.

In a lot of ways it makes more sense to make a trade next year. Thing is if they trade for a high salary player now they are likely boxed out of high end FA next summer. Same thing if they trade for 2 max players now. Not to mention the (potentially) high trade acquisition costs.

Standing pat now and landing a good FA next year does not at all impact their ability to then trade for a max player afterwards. In a lot of cases it could even help by freeing up certain current pieces to be made available to trade.

Obviously the benefit of trades now is the certainty of getting the player in house vs the uncertainty of FA. But it sure would be nice to take one more step up in competitiveness without punting all of the young assets.
