This is way to early for anyone to really make an accurate guess and the reasons behind a lot of these are just terrible, certainly the Pistons one.

This is just hedging, and a terrible job of it.

Their reasoning is completely screwy, but the records they predict don't seem that off.

ESPN obviously hasn't read our "We're going to **** on the East this year " thread. That records more of a tinkle

predicting the pistons to suck for the past 6 years doesn't necessarily take a genius ,literally just took a non pistons fan.

Don't like it. Takes almost nothing into account.
If we had the same starting five as we began last season with, and everyone was in the 28-31 range, then yeah, you could predict little change and +/- 1 doesn't sound off.
But we don't. We start the season with Harris, everyone's 26 or younger, and our bench is much improved.

^ Well said. Full season of Harris with the starters, along with all the in house improvements will pay dividends. Let's also not forget that Detroit had the worst scoring bench in the league and ranked in the bottom 5 in bench efficiency.

I CANT WAIT FOR THE SEASON TO START!! DETROIT BASKETBALL!

Yeah we actually have a bench this year. Last year we struggled with consistency from our starter because we had no bench.

On top of our starters producing well, and having a reliable bench on paper, I can see us going pretty well. This roster is built for very low risk but with future moves planned as well. I'm loving it.

Its not far off what most think here in terms of placement. They predict overall the conference becomes more competitive so we don't win as much games; but jump up 4 spots.

Totally cool with 4th in the EC. Not cool with 45 wins.

Some team or teams besides Philly and Brooklyn are going to suck. They'll get off to a slow start and tank because it's a strong draft.

That'll push up the win totals for the non-tankers.

They really aren't predicting great things for the East here, are they? Its sort of understandable. After a fast start the east tapered off quite a bit in general last year. I guess they're projecting that overall pattern to continue.

I think we improve by at least a few games next year. Sans injuries we should get close to 50.

i believe outside the top 5 in the West, it was a crap shoot. Whats wierd is that i really don't give a sh* who's not the Warriors.

The ESPN predictions seem pretty sane.

Regardless of anyone's predictions, Detroit will be much better this year.

One other interesting point from the predictions, it really does feel like we've moved to the next level. This tier below is the **** we just got out of. I feel we are better than all these teams, and and we will be for quite some time:
7. Hornets - 43-49 (-5)
8. Wizards - 41-41 (Even)
9. Knicks - 40-42 (+8)
10. Bulls - 40-42 (-2)
11. Bucks - 39-43 (+6)
12. Heat - 36-46 (-12)

The biggest thing you can take from it is that the Pistons are getting a little respect. Win predictions are just tossing the old chicken bones, but being in the upper half of the East's predicted playoff teams says they are being taken seriously. Nice to see.

Honestly I expected even worse from ESPN, 45 wins and 4th place is pretty optimistic considering how much they usually underestimate us. Just add a few to their prediction and we're good

Last year they had us at 11th place with 35 wins. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13431310/2015-summer-forecast-east-standings

Yeah, I'd go for about a 5 win improvement.

If the Vegas line is 45, I'll place a huge bet on the over. Drummond out for half the season is the only thing that would bust that number

Boban smash. Seriously, the starter I'd worry about the most here is Reggie.
