you think they didnt offer him a 1 day contract to retire with us? Dont kid yourself, of course that would have been on the table. Amare got butthurt and "stuck it to us".

I'm guessing it wasn't. He probably didn't ask for a one day contract but a year, and probably didn't ask for it from the Knicks either but asked for a one year contract, and they probably offered him the one day contract to retire there. I doubt he was calling up asking for one day contracts.

We made the wrong decision by not trading him at the end of 06-07 when his value was at it's peak.

We could have moved him in the summer of 07 for Garnet. We could have moved him in 08. Instead we let him walk in 09 for nothing. Now THAT was stupid.

We couldn't move him that summer. From what I recall, both the Hawks, nor the Wolves, wanted Amar'e due to concerns about his knees. Marion was the sticking point. He didn't want to sign an extension with Boston.

Yeah, It's kinda obvious that our 1 day contract was in the table... Amare just wanted a farewell tour and got snubbed.
Good for us.

I think Sarver would have done a 1 day contract. I think Amare wanted the 1 year deal, we didn't offer it to him so he wanted to throw Sarver a big eff you.

I am very much looking forward to seeing who he becomes as a player.

Probably Suns, and I'm thinking maybe he hopes to happily surprise fans instead of set up false expectations.

I hope TJ is all healed up and ready to kick ass in training camp. This should be his breakout season.

If we fire on all cylinders, we could really surprise some people.

After reading this interview, I hope we keep Jenkins around.

Then we still have to find space for Bender and Chriss somehow. When I say "would have been nice", I really do mean that. He was such a big part of our recent history.

'of our bigger guys' and Dudley do not belong in the same sentence. Lets not kid ourselves about our newly acquired powerless forward. I do agree, no need/room for Stat anywhere on this roster. Plus it has hit its nostalgic allotment

Nice pick up by the Spurs .... they look to have done a nice job in their recent shuffle.

That was a great interview. We better keep him on that deal. Without a doubt keep him ahead of Goodwin. Not only is he a better player, but he really seems like he is a big addition to the locker room and would really help guys like Bender and Chriss.

Gorilla Warfare wrote:I've had interactions with Amare on several occasions at my last job and that has a major effect on my thoughts on him having his jersey retired with the Suns.

He deserves nothing from us and I think he's a terrible person. He was nothing without Nash.

That could be farther from the truth.

His first season with the Knicks he really displayed that he could score in a variety of ways but unfortunately his knees just couldn't handle all that stress so this nonsense that he was nothing without Nash is bollocks.

We also had Hakeem Warrick who could do nothing but dunk and he failed miserably as an Amare replacement so it's not like Amare was nothing without Nash.

Remember that having Amare meant teams could not solely clamp down on Nash because they had to respect the threat that Amare and Marion posed if they were to leave them open.
