Add Ingram plus some solid vets and that should be enough to top the nets, Sixers and suns/kings. I don't think they would have sold Walton on coming over to tank another season. Otherwise they would have kept Byron Scott who is masterful at it.
LA may not be intentionally tanking, but their roster is still garbage. Everyone keeps expecting LA to just pull a rabbit (Westbrook and griffin) out of the hat (free agency). The thing is tho that LA has been trying to grab a big name FA since Pau left and no one wants a part of it. KD sat with the Clippers and wouldn't even consider the Lakers, that goes to show that LA's historical pedigree is no longer a huge selling point. Players want to win and get paid. Even with Russ and Blake LA tops out at western semi finals. Add that to the fact that every team would pay Russ and Blake the max and the reasons for choosing LA are entirely diminished.
Also, the whole Russ to LA because he grew up there is overhyped. Its a convenient storyline but the fact a player grew up somewhere is not determinative of where he chooses to play pro ball.
AND the argument about Russ craving LA's social scene because of his entrepreneurial pursuits is downright malarkey. Russ loves fashion. Not LA style, New York fashion.
