Is gonna come close to touching the Warriors or Cavs.

Huh?

We can beat Cavs as currently assembled

I mean there is liking the moves we made this offseason and then there is this. Bulls fans expectations have completely gotten out of control. Jimmy Butler being a fun loving extrovert, Dwayne Wade being a consummate PR professional, and Rajon Rondo being the bulldog attitude with "championship pedigree" doesn't mean the Bulls can knock off LeBron or come anywhere close.

He is probably the only poster who believes that.

Hell if the Warriors are as good as they look, I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up with the whole banana boat crew if the Cavs get destroyed in the finals.

Wade came here for less than the max because no one was offering Wade a max contract. The market dictated Wade's deal to be less than the max.

There will definitely be a team willing to pay Paul the max, be it the Clippers or someone else. If he doesn't take the max, he isn't giving up something overly substantial like $5-7m a season.

Wade wasn't getting the max but Denver offered more. And I'm sure if he was looking for top dollar he would have extracted even more.

The fact is that Paul hasn't won anything. And if they fail again and have no method to upgrade the roster (which with blake and paul making max deals they wouldn't) then he might leave. You can't say these things for a certainty but we've seen it recently. The tides are changing. A strong showing by the Bulls in the ECF and you might be able to convince the Banana boat crew to come over. That would be their best shot against GS.

Yes - I do realize it. Thats why I am mentioning it. There's the midseason trade deadline for example.

Blake for Niko + Taj + picks works if Blake tells Doc he's walking anyway. We can add in Felicio. Or a Portis.

The point is that there is a possibility that something major can happen - a possibility that was an impossibility before Wade became a Chicago Bull.

I don't think Blake is going to tell Doc that.

Blake almost got traded last season. Last offseason, Doc said that he'd give the core 1 more year before he would rebuild.

And just 3 days ago, he was talking about how difficult it is to build a contending team with 3 max contracts.

Doc Rivers wrote:"Things have changed. The Big 3 (in Boston), put them together, bam, we won. In Miami, put them together, bam, they win. Golden State is going to try to do it this coming year. There are teams that still poke through. Dallas did it. They kind of had their team, they had the nucleus and finally they poke through. That's what we're going to try to do."

If he can get a starting quality stretch 4 for Blake, then I can see Blake getting traded.

I don't know. I think they trade CP3 or Jordan first. Blake is extradinarly talented and heading into his prime. I think they'd be better off trading Jordan for a very good SF/PF and letting Blake play C.

I somehow doubt the validity of that. We were able to dump Kirk that offseason without a problem. I don't think it would have been an issue for someone like the Nets to take Deng.

Luol Deng was considered a really bad contract at the time. A lot of years left on it, he wasn't as good as before, and very injury prone. Thibs made him relevant again. Bulls thought they had something there with the Clippers there though and I guess they got cold feet or something.

Deng wasn't ever a bad contract. He had a big deal but he was certainly trade able. There were also a lot of teams with cap space that lost out like the Nets, (would have been the Heat), and NY.

How you figure that?

Rondo can hold down Kyrie. Jimmy holds down Lebron and makes him shoot bad percentages. Not to mention Wade and Lebron even without good d on Lebron would cancel one another out and Taj can lock down Love.

I regret asking, but thanks anyway.

I agree with that as well - DeAndre is the problem there in terms of cap utilization.

I'd trade Jimmy for Blake ( if he re-signs here long term) in a quick minute.

I am sure Wade and Jimmy think it to. Like I am sure Lebron and Kyrie were the only ones to think that they would beat G.S last year.

I wouldn't trade Jimmy for Blake. Blake isn't a guy you build around. I'd want Jimmy and Blake together. The most I'd do for Blake is Taj/Niko or Portis/1st.

So, we agree that its possible that Blake can inform Doc that he's not going to re-sign and we can trade for him using non-central pieces and draft picks?

I don't think it would happen. But if it did, that's what I'd offer. I think CP3 and DJ are more likely to be moved.

The Nuggets were offering $3m more than the Bulls. Wade was looking for money. No team was giving anymore than that, and no where near his max, which was over $30m.

Paul hasn't won anything and he might leave. I'm not suggesting he won't. I just don't think he will sacrificing dollars. Kevin Durant hasn't won anything either but he isn't leaving a max contract on the table. He even did the 1+1 with Golden State to make sure he gets more next season, as he should.

Paul may walk, but he's getting paid in the process. Maybe he sacrifices a small margin, but his max will be approx $33m next season (or whatever the revised figure is now the cap has come down).

The Nuggets were offering $3 mill more than us. So he left money on the table. And I'm sure if he was really in it for the money, he could have gotten the Nuggets to up their offer. But it was clear he didn't have any intention of going there and clearly had other consideration other than just money.

Now add to the fact that the supposed Miami offer was only a few mill lower than we offered and that the tax difference in a no tax state vs our state and high city taxes, Wade is barely making more than the Miami offer.

Maybe he just saw Bron, JJ, Deng and probably thought TJ was leaving. Maybe he just didn't want to carry the load i Miami or Denver. It sure sounds like he is immediately made it clear, its Jimmy's team.

Do you think Wade will be more beloved here than Rose was in 2011 and 2012?

Watching the highlight video above one thing strikes me as amusing.. At about the 7:00 mark D Wade is taking it to the Bulls. On two of those highlight clips the Bulls have Rose, Moore, Dunleavy, Gibson, and Gasol on the floor. Taj is the only one who will still be a Bull in those 2 clips. The Heat have as many 2016 Bulls on the floor as the Bulls do..

I'ts exciting to think we had a very similar roster for 6 years and now have done a 50% overhaul. It's going to be fun to watch regardless of outcome.

Return to Chicago Bulls
