Puig, 25, stormed off after arriving at Dodger Stadium and being informed that he would either be traded or sent to the minors, according to major-league sources.

He was not traded before the non-waiver deadline at 4 p.m. ET, but the team’s immediate plan for him is unclear.

Club officials declined comment.

I don't get this. Puig just had a 3 hit game. he supposedly wanted to make effort to fit in and be a good teammate. did something happen in last few days? did Puig butt rape one of Dave's kids? did we get a positive urine sample from 2013 season? and what the hell is the point of alienating him then not get a trade for him? are we putting him on the wavers now? what a stinking mess!!!

I don't mind sending Yasiel down to the minors to work on his swing and maybe rehab his hamstring, but there seems to be something more going on that is not being presented. Regardless, Puig should report to OKC for assignment. I've been encouraged by his new attitude and approach, but he needs to follow protocol just like every other player on the roster. He should take this opportunity to better himself. At the same time, I'm questioning the front office's handling of the situation and their valuation of him until I hear more.

sounds like a goddamn cover up. he was hitting .830 OPS since his return... no need to be seasoned down in the minors. no trade, and the best player among the Puig/Toles/SVS/**** gets to be sent down. it sure sounds like a popularity contest gone mad in the clubhouse. is Zack Greinke still around?

Friedman dropped the ball here.

He spent the entire offseason talking a big game about how MLB franchises have failed Cuban players. Puig did everything you asked and played his ass off coming off the DL and all he gets for it is trade rumors and a demotion.

Puig may not have lived up to the hype but he's not a minor leaguer. That's the ultimate insult.

Unbelievable we let all this go down and didnt deal him. Regardless of whether we wanted him here or not, he deserved better than this and I dont blame him for being frustrated.
