2016 Scavenger Hunt Draft - ESAL/Gatz wins

Very slim pickings for some of the remaining categories. Down to two players based on my team with the Expansion category; no need for Okafor or Damon Stoudemire, and the other rosters are very barren. Tempted to go with Tracy Murray, who shot it blisteringly well for the Raptors but I don't think he gets the name recognition in a draft like this and you know I have to go with the Hornet in a tie breaker situation.

So I decided to break ESAL's heart yet again and take Dell "Stephen" Curry of the 1989 Charlotte Hornets, ending ESAL's bid to have a cool father/son tandem on his team.

Curry gives me a lethal shooter in special situations or when the team just can't get anything going off the bench. In 1989 Curry shot 34% 3PT, 50% 2PT, and 87% from the stripe. At the end of games if I'm ahead, I can go Stockton/Price/Curry/Kobe/Laimbeer to guarantee free throws made.

Curry was more aggressive in his earlier years and could take it to the hoop, as well as shooting the long ball. He averaged 11.9 points off the bench that year. Not bad for a young on an expansion team!

Curry of course would go on to have a great career off the bench for the 90's Hornets, becoming an elite 3PT shooter and a perfect role player and teammate.

I need a backup PG that can play in the same mold as Curry so I don't have to change much. A MIGHTY guy that's quick as a MOUSE, good handles, can shoot the rock, and get the ball to his teammates. I need someone that when the team is in trouble he can come and save the day. Whether we are on sea or on land he will definitely get the situation in hand. I am sure of it.

17 points, 8 assists, 3.5 boards, and a steal. He also shot 39.5% on 4 3s a game.

He's a small guy, but with his handles he can get to his spot like this against Ron Harper

I know he had his troubles later on in his career, and his rookie season was the highlight of his career, but I'm not picking him as a whole, but this is a by year draft and I'm getting a guy that can handle my second team, get my shooters open looks, and be an electric spark off the bench with his scoring and ball handling. The crowd is going to go ape **** when he comes in because they will be waiting for the next highlight.

The rookie Mighty Mouse records his then career-high in points by leading his expansion Raptors to a win against the 72-10 Bulls. Stoudamire always feasted on the slower Ron Harper and Steve Kerr (some stats at the end of this description), but this time around he also got Michael Jordan. Damon wasn't fazed by MJ's mind games of not raising his hand to contest the shot or setting off for the fast break altogether before the shot is released. Stoudamire had an impressive and Stephen Curry-like 6 for 8 on three pointers, to boot.

Here are Damon's first eight games (first two seasons in Toronto) against Chicago: 22pts/10asts, 20pts/13asts, 26pts/12asts, 30pts/11asts (this game), 31pts/13asts (also a W), 26pts/11asts/12TOs, 18pts/12asts and 29pts/12asts (also uploaded on this channel).

Those are averages of 25.2ppg, 11.7apg and 5.6rpg. Not too shabby..

I probably wouldn't want him as my starter on this team, but as the spark off the bench that can handle the second offense, I think he can be perfect.

yeah sorry just skip me if I don't pick within like 2 hours. I don't wanna hold things up. I was on a total bender. I knew I was going to have a few issues picking last week but I actually did fine during that time. It was just me going off the deep end the last couple days that slowed me down and I didn't expect to be gone. Im back for good now.

Let's be honest, this late in the draft everyone is tired. The pickings are slim. The players are meh. We're just trying to grind it out at this point. So I think to myself, what do I need on my team? I think to myself, who is even on my team? Have I already used the Hoosier category? I think I picked Walt Bellamy let me go back and look. No I didn't plus he is too old. That's good.

I starts to think, wow all these players either suck or are exceedingly average. I don't have a spreadsheet to determine who is actually good nor do I want to spend that type of time for a bench player. A bead of sweat springs forth from my furrowed brow. Just pick anyone, get it over with. I continue to scroll through player after player. Players long forgotten in the annals of basketball history. Players so long gone that even Lamar has forgotten them.

Then I see him. A beacon of light through the darkness. A beautiful man smiling at me. Beckoning me to pick him. Is that god himself? What a jawline. Look at the pearly whites. This man could be on a soap opera. Oh wait he was on a soap opera. I click into the stats. I barely look my heart is already set. Only god (Fat) can judge me now. Do not take this man from me. Do not tell me I have sinned. I beg you.
