The Cubs will activate Ryan Dempster after the All-Star break to get back to 12 pitchers, and someone has to go.
"I love the kid," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said Friday. "The thing is, we're at where we started the season."
"We'll give him a chance," Piniella said of Jones, who was batting .232."
"Pie can help us every day. It's just a question of whether the organization wants him helping this way or getting more at-bats."
How dumb is this organization? It's sad when that question is asked week after week year after year.
Why dick around Pie for the past 2 weeks? Why is he only hitting in batting practice?
Why are we going to sacrifice the development of the only prospect in the Cubs system worth talking about, because Jacque Jones for some god unknown reason is still on the team?
Why is Angel Pagan getting starts against right-handed pitchers who have a 5+ ERA? There is always an adjustment period for rookies. You would think those would be the kind of pitchers you would want to start him against.
How long did the whole "Pie is going to play.. He's our everyday center fielder" thing last? A week and a half?
