Your Teams worst franchise Loss.
I'm in a bit of a rush so I will let you know my teams worse loss later tonight. You know, the one that still leaves a bad taste in your mouth and can't get over.

Re: Your Teams worst franchise Loss.
There are three that stand out. This one in 2007 was brutal. So many unlucky plays. But as the #1 seed, the Patriots come into town, and I don't remember all the specifics right now, other than recovering a Pats fumble, and the guy tried to return it and fumbled it back. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200701140sdg.htm
Then, which was a staple for all the three I will list, Nate Kaeding misses his only fg try 8 seconds left, that would have tied it.
Then there was this one, a 2005 WC game at home against the Jets. With the game in OT, the Chargers drive to the 22, only to miss a 39 yard FG. NY gets it back and then wins with a FG. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200501080sdg.htm
Then this one in 2010, another home game against the Jets. We lose by 3. Nate Kaeding misses 3 field goals in this one, two being 40 yards or less. AFC Championship (the next game) would have been against Indy, who SD owned in the playoffs over that stretch of years. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/201001170sdg.htm

Re: Your Teams worst franchise Loss.
The one that stings the most was the 2004 Super Bowl. I still curse Adam Vinatieri to this day
Losing to the Seahawks in the 2005 NFC Championship stung pretty hard as well, I remember that one very clearly
However if I could take one loss and turn it into a win, it would no question be our last loss, SB50. Losing to the Broncos really sucked, especially being surrounded by Broncos fans. I honestly, really thought we had the upper hand going into that game as well, and we just came out flat and shat the bed.

Re: Your Teams worst franchise Loss.
Ravens in the driver's seat leading the Steelers by two scores in the AFC championship and Flacco hits Rice over the middle for a quick pass deep in Ravens territory. The dickbag fumbles and I believe Polamalu recovers. The Steelers are off the hook after a quick TD before half, momentum does a complete 18o and the Ravens lose.
Dickbag #2, Lee Evans, drops a pass that Flacco arcs beautifully into his hands as if it were a laser guided gift basket that would have given the Ravens a pass to the Super Bowl where they'd have pounded that Giants team that was tailor made to match up with the Patriots and Packers, not us.

If you're old enough, it almost has to be that stupid QB sneak by Starr that I'm sure you've heard about no less than 10 million times.

Nope. For me it was easily super bowl V. That piece of ...., a..hole licking CRAIG MORTON had to throw 3 ints in the 4th period and give it away despite the efforts of Howley, Lilly and the Doomsday I defense. We had a guy named Staubach on the bench but Landry didn't like or trust young QB's.RavenMad31 wrote:bluejerseyjinx wrote:I'm in a bit of a rush so I will let you know my teams worse loss later tonight. Hell, back then most coaches wouldn't even let you see the field until about your third year unless it was mop up duty. How the hell Craig Morton ever managed to make it to 2 Super Bowls is beyond me. He is kind of a forgotten face in the list of worst QBs to play in a SB.

Re: Your Teams worst franchise Loss.
Probably the 1980 playoff game against Dallas, they sucked for a long time, the Dolphins came in 66 also, but they got it together. Anyway they fell short of reaching the Super Bowl, and would continue to suck with little success here and there.
Also the 2012 NFCCG loss to SF.... Niners get us yet again years after whooping us for about 15 years with Montana & Young.

Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

Those last 2 4th quarter TD's by Captain Clutch must have been devastating to you. Falcons thought that had us this time with Staubach forced to retire the year before.

At least he gave it back to you in Super Bowl XII with 4 interceptions (while having only 4 completions).

It still never makes up for the one that got away. I'm still to this day sickened by that loss.
