I was almost positive I'd use my Hoosier pick on George Hill, but Brad Miller won me over.

EwingSweatsALot wrote:Also with that pick, I'm sure you can tell that the guesses for my All NBA pick weren't correct. Yalls guesses also have me second guessing if I'm.picking the right guy since nobody brought the guys name up.
I mean, how could it not be Dr J? 1980-81 24.6ppg, 8rpg, 4.4apg, 2.0spg, 1.8bpg, NBA MVP. Fits in perfectly as your starting small forward. Best small forward left, easily, unless you just don't like him as a fit for your team and prefer a different small forward. Anyone else you pick pushes a starter to the bench. You gonna move Curry, Pierce or Robinson to the bench? or you're picking a backup with the All NBA category, which seems like a waste.
But here are my other guesses...you've already said no to Drexler and Gervin
Charles Barkley, other than Dr J, he is the best of the rest. Gives you another PF, so that doesn't make a ton of sense, but he'd immediately start over Rodman, Randolph and Cummings.
Derrick Rose, MVP year. I know you love Rose and you might start him over Curry or move Pierce to the bench or even Pierce to small forward
Patrick Ewing, he is your avatar after all. His 1989 year is ridiculous, but not better than Robinson, so he's off to the bench.
David Thompson, he is good enough to push Pierce to the bench or Pierce to SF. When he was healthy and not on drugs, he was as good as it gets.
Sidney Moncrief, if you decide you want a defensive stopper, he's the best there is.
Bernard King, I'll fight anyone who doesn't recognize how good King was at his best, before he blew his knees up. He'd immediately start at SF.
Russell Westbrook (he's still available, right?), hard to argue with the year he had last year if you want another guard.
And yes, you guessed my next pick for Hoosier.

Well, I was debating between the two. When you took Miller, then I knew I had to go Bogut then use Hoosier for a guard. It works out better this way because I would have had to pick my guard from the Expansion category and that was not nearly as good of a trade-off.
So yes, I will be taking Hill with my next pick. unless someone decides to take him in his rookie year (I have contingencies in place that I am equally happy with as well - Oladipo and Teague, so no worries). Hill is best fit for my roster, someone who can play PG and SG, who fits perfectly next to Magic in next to Manu, who can play defense and hit 3s.

BTG is only one with the rookie slot left. So you're good.

I think it would be interesting if we allowed trades. Like if remaining players in category X aren't a great fit for me and players in category Y aren't a great fit for you, you can trade. Probably destroys part of the point of the draft though.

Re: 2016 Scavenger Hunt Draft (ESaL's pick)
Alright, time to complete the starting lineup. Need a young, athletic, two way, high IQ big guard, with championship experience, to pair with Kobe who is lethal from beyond the arc and will get plenty of catch and shoot 3's and spread the floor for Kobe/Duncan, doesn't need the ball in his hands, and also play with the 2nd unit when Kobe sits for breathers. I'll let the lineup speak for itself (Stop Shooting category, 2013-2014)
Starting Five
PG: John Stockton (1992; Dream Team, All-Star, 2nd team all NBA, 2nd team all Defense, 15.8 ppg, 13.7 apg, 3.0 spg, 50/40/84 %)
SG: Klay Thompson (2014; 18.4 ppg, 41% 3PT (223 made 3's, 2nd in NBA behind Curry), 3.1 rpg, 2.2 apg)
SF: Kobe Bryant (2008; NBA MVP, All-Star, 1st team all NBA, 1st team all Defense, 28.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 5.4 apg, 1.8 spg)
PF: Kevin McHale (1984; All-Star, 6th MOTY 18.4 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.5 bpg. 55% FG)
C: Tim Duncan (1998; All-Star, 1st team all NBA, 2nd team all Defense, Rookie of the Year, 21.1 ppg, 11.9 rpg, 2.5 bpg, 2.9 apg, 55% FG)
Bench Rotation
PG: Mark Price (1993; All Star, All-NBA 1st Team, 18.2 ppg, 8.0 apg, 48% FG, 41% 3PT 94.8% FT
SG: Dell Curry (1989; 11.9 ppg, 50% FG, 34% 3PT, 87% FT)
SF: Hedo Turkoglu (2004; 9.2 ppg, 4.5 rpg, and 1.9 apg, 42% 3PT)
PF: Bill Laimbeer (1990; NBA Champion, 12.1 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 1 bpg, 51/36/85%)
C: Artis Gilmore (1978; All-Star, 2nd team all Defense, 22.9 ppg, 13.1 rpg, 2.2 bpg, and 3.2 apg)
Depth

Thompson (30) / Bryant (12) / Curry (6)
Bryant (26) / Turkoglu (18) / Thompson (4)

Re: 2016 Scavenger Hunt Draft (YB's pick)
From Lamar
"I wasn't expecting people to take such established guys for their 11th man role. But if it's so, I won't stand back and pick "Back-Up Point Guard X" just because it works better from a supposed chemistry stand point. Thus I'm selecting Champ Bench - Jason Terry 2010-11 - 15.8PPG, 4.1APG for some back-court insurance. He's basically my fifth guard, a very big luxury. But if something funky happens to the wing minutes in some particular match-up, I guess he could see some back-up ball handler time."

I'm pretty sure Esal will select a shooting guard with his All-NBA pick. He needs someone who will pick up the slack for Curry on defensive end. Sidney Moncrief.

Re: 2016 Scavenger Hunt Draft (YB's pick)
With my expansion pick I'll take Kelly Tripucka's 1988-89 season - 25.1 reasonably efficient points per game, 4.2 boards, 3.5 assists. He can put some points on the board, and he can win over the lady and Seinfeld look-alike fan vote:

His most impressive stat line that season probably would have to be the line he put up on 2/25/89 against SAS, where he had 40 points on 15-22 FG. 10-11 FT, along with 9 assists, 4 steals, 5 boards, and a block.

Re: 2016 Scavenger Hunt Draft (Diop's pick)
I was going to select my Hoosier with this pick, but there is really no reason for me to take him now since I am the only one left in that category. Instead I’ll take another versatile wing defender who started for a team that was 1 quarter away from the finals. Andre Roberson, 2015-16, invisible. He’s one of the best wing defenders in the league and also can hit a few 3s when left open (made 32 in 15-16). Also, as a fun wrinkle, he can play as a small ball big man, as we saw in the WCF when he was played at center at times, such as the 17pt, 12reb, 5stl, 2blk performance in game 4. You can never have enough guys to throw at Jordan, Lebron and Kobe.

Sorry, I've had a crazy, crappy, busy day.
I'm using my Championship Bench player to take Shaun Livingston. Having a 6'7 point guard on the bench will always be handy.
