Been extremely impressed with Happ this year. Hope that isn't too douchebaggy of me to say.

Anyone care to guess who leads the league in homeruns and RBI's the past calendar year? .287, 165 runs, 50 HR, 145 RBI, .991 OPS. Edwin Encarnacion is gonna get paid.

And we should be paying him. He's been the model of consistency these past 4+ years, with his OPS ranging from a low of .901 to to .941. Aside from his higher K rate this year, there's no sign of him slowing down. At 33, I'd be willing to risk a decline over 3-4 years.

His performance clearly isn't an aberration as he's not having a contract year season. What we are seeing though is that he can easily be a 50/50 1B/DH guy without negatively affecting the roster defensively.
